Avernum doesn't have any premade characters; you make a party at the start and then stick with them. It's also much more open and much longer; there's also multiple ways to win the game. Better than Avadon in basically every way.

Thanks, I knew Avernum was better overall thanks to the demos, I just needed a push.

Playing through Sonic Colors. I love the scenery, Eggman's PA announcements are plentiful and hilarious, and I like how they've broken each level up into a bunch of acts that each emphasize a different style of play with different wisp powers. The scoring system is a little weird, though, since you earn points for being in color form (like drill or spike) so it's beneficial to just drill around in circles until the power runs out. It isn't quite as satisfying to master each level as Sonic Heroes, and it's not as thrilling as the roller-coaster stages in Sonic Generations, but it has its own charm.

I finished DROD: Tendry's Tale. A lovely little game in the style of Tower of the Sorcerer. Effectively it's broken up into two halves that are totally unrelated to each other (in a major change from most games, you can choose to simply skip to the second half of the game without having to unlock it or any such thing) and each one is one continuous puzzle where you hoard health, seek out stat boosts and try to clear each level in the most efficient way possible. As a neat reward, each half of the game offers a bonus boss that can only be defeated if you play the game through extra carefully and finish with enough health and offense. It's a great way to keep the momentum going for less skilled players, while giving advanced players something to strive for.

I'm also working on a set of jigsaw puzzles my brother lovingly put in a single box with no picture and no border pieces. Jigsaw puzzles are the most fun when you don't know what the picture will be.

Theme Hospital. The micromanagement and maintenance during this game is so cruel. This game is cruel.

Crowe, you keep introducing me to all these cool looking games. I feel like if I'm looking for something to play I could ask you.

Battle Academy I wasn't 100 % convinced by the demo, but I bought the game anyway at their december sale, and I have almost not played any other game since (play a few scenarios per week, including a few re-plays, and still have several campaigns to get through). Very light tactical wargame with slightly cartoonish graphics. Very addictive imo, but not as time-consuming as the last game I was playing too much (Frozen Synapse).

Ha, I've been playing through Dark Messiah as well. It seems like it's known for it's terrible plot, writing and voice acting, but it's actually a pretty awesome game.

The story is terrible, but the gameplay is top notch. My favourite FPS combat system in a game, it just feels good.

Lone Survivor just dropped on Steam, and it's the updated version, rather than wait for my key I've shelled out for another copy. It's on sale and a really awesome game, it will be the staple of my night.

who cares about writing and plot in a game like dork messiah? i can't even remember what the story was about and who the characters were. what i do remember is the excellent first person melee system.

holy shit path of exile is the most boring game

i literally cannot see how anyone could play this and be entertained

I've looked at some videos of it and read some stuff. It looks pretty nice to me, like a Diablo 2.5 or something. What did you find bad about it?
