Just bought this used with a couple first party games (Pikmin, Wind Waker, Mario Sunshine) for the price of a few sandwiches. I recommend that anyone who's never owned a GC do the same.

GC is the most underrated system. Everyone said it was bad but I loved my GC Smiley

finally figured it out

you have to use rosch's column attacks to wipe out all the bombs before even one can explode; then you have to use a combination of pushing attacks to make sure the bombs are all wiped out every turn... and to use lighting spells

i like the designs in this game a lot

Just finished Max Payne 3, gameplay-wise I think it's the best shooter I've played in years. Gunfights are just as satisfying as they were in the previous game, if not more.

Story is kinda bad and Max is not as "fun" as it was. Also, I live in São Paulo, it feels weird to play a game where everyone speaks your language, specially the enemies, I guess now I know how germans feel playing WWII games.

So I had made it to level 3 of Ultima Underworld without ever having found the human camp on the first level.  I finally broke down and watched part of a let's play of the game and found out where the human camp was, so I decided to trek back to the first level to see if there was anything important I missed as I was facing trouble on the third level.  Apparently what I missed was all of the dialogue that explains how you're supposed to be interacting with the world and what course you should take.  A lot of it I picked up from other parts of the game, or just by figuring things out, but it would have been nice to have gone here earlier.  The game is fantastic for the most part, but it seems a bit odd putting what is essentially the starting/tutorial stage past a leap of faith off a specific ledge.  Anyway, I was given a quest by the human guys, and I'll probably do that before heading back down.

As a result of this thread, I just mashed through "10 days" of Dark Cloud. Had the village rebuilt (?) within 9 of them, spent the last going through events in town. Although so far it's just my character "Fuck me!" and my pet puttytat, "Bitch!". (I'm loving the dialogue in this game so far, btw. Can't you tell?)

It was pretty fun, except that one level where you can ONLY use the catgirl, and the seal to the next level is in Ogans and Dragons which you have to tear apart with your might 4-point-per-max-shot slingshot. The hell was THAT for? Just glad I had a couple extra bombs around...

The Last Remnant needs a little more credit. IF you ever enjoyed the Saga series, then you should check it out; it's basically one of them, even if the name is different. I think the battle system is pretty interesting, but also it has some really strong character designs that I like very much, including Emma, who you see in that screenshot.

Even the silliest designs, like the protagonist who appears to be wearing two pairs of pants at the same time are far more understated and practical than the usual Squeenix fare i.e.

"Only use one character" levels are common through the game, and likely meant to force you to use all the characters equally instead of just loading everything on one guy. Just make sure you keep upgrading everyone's weapons and you'll be fine.

It's a pretty crappy mechanic overall, though so the sequel limits you to just two characters so it doesn't feel like such a pointless juggle.

I got a NES and Genesis this weekend, and I now have the chance to play a lot of retro games I never go to (my first console was the N64).

Right now I am playing through Ninja Gaiden, and I am totally loving it.  Kiss
