Painkiller and SS seem to suffer from the same problem, which is that moving from one dull area filled with really basic enemies that run right at you to another dull area filled with really basic enemies that run right at you is not very enjoyable.

Painkiller is fun, yeah the game is basically that but the weapons are pretty cool to use and some dull areas are not so dull an require some strategy. It's a mindless shooter cool to pass time, but still not as mindless as most new military shooters are.

I played only the original one though, not sure how the new one is.

I actually got into Diablo 3, which I haven't played in FOREVER.  This was actually before the whole announcement that it was coming to consoles.

The thing that bugs me now is that all the difficulties feel kind of homogenized...  Like, I started a new character, and his Act 1 felt the same as the Act 1 on my level sixty dude.  I guess it's kind of hard to balance that out, but where it's at now, it all feels like the same game four times.  I think stats are scaled a little too well with the difficulty, we might need a bit of skew to make things harder.

Aside from learning how to do the kung-fu better, it is a bit same-y. That didn't stop me from getting everything, but the game itself is a little shallow. It's one of those "more than the sum of its parts" games.

dreamfall.

gameplay is shit, but i'm intrigued by the plot, and the set design is super amazing. i tried getting into the first game in the series (the longest journey), but the obscure adventure game puzzles were really obtuse and terrible. also the 3d models were embarassing.

Kentucky Route Zero just dropped on Steam, so I think it warrants another play through. It's one of the point and click games I'm de-constructing for this essay I have to write.

Wonderful mood in the game, I really like it's style.

My thoughts exactly.

You're missing out on a real gem :O the story on that is awesome. I don't remember any particular super-hard puzzles (especially since I played it without internet access), except for the infamous rubber duck puzzle. I was really awed by the game-world (the presentation didn't bother me so much 10 years ago). The world to explore was pretty big (much bigger than Dreamfall), but you didn't feel overwhelmed (unlike, for instance, Syberia).

Awwww, now I need to find my CD :D I really recommend it.

Lots of Leap Day.

I think I've finally found another online game that I really enjoy, after finally giving up on Kingdom of Loathing.

d3 disappointed me with the personal touch lost. most important part of rpg for me. ... I mean the "personal touch" that comes with character evolution decisions: skill trees etc.

reviewers like it. they have fun with it. but we're game designers. I don't know.

dreamfall is on my list to play.
