This isn't in games, per-say, but I really hate generic, melodramatic titles.
Especially ones that begin with "Project (colon)", or include words like "destiny", "fate", and "legends".  Angry

Starting everything with "Project (colon)" is the worst offender here.
Unless you are clever and name your shooter something like Project:ile, then don't do it. Ever.

What about Project Colon: Rectal Rangers?

What about titles that don't even have a name yet, ergo Project Aurum?

I find it more acceptable if it's a tentative title, but it's still kind of unnecessary considering it's projectiveness is largely blatant.
(Yes, I just made up that word.)

And it's somewhat dangerous to be throwing about pronouns quite like that.

Ha, that all sounds like stuff my old Automatic Fantasy Gamenamer would shoot out.
My favorite generated was the surprisingly-sensical Heretic Seal : The Ex, and least favorite was (prepare your best shirtless-barbarian voice) Lost Legends The Ultimate.

Neat generator. Hand Thumbs Up Right

What about Project Colon: Rectal Rangers?
I'll just pretend that I never read that.

This all is generalization:

Kiss
-game as is
-immersion that goes far beyond than for example a film
-possibility to do both immersive, but also out of this world experiences
-complex combination of audiovisuals, but also reactions and hand control

 No No NO
-hollywoodism
-linearity and tunnel gameplay
-illogical puzzles in logical game world
-unrealism in realistic games!
-realism in unrealistic games!
-stories! Go and read a good book, story will be 10000 better than best possible story in any game. Leave games alone.
-modern dull colour schemes: where are the colours?
-irritating playable characters: either dead boring, or just stupid looking
-common boredom: lack of really cool stuff

LURVE  Kiss Kiss
Nonlinearity
Good level design (rare enough!)
Meaningful decisions
Strong setting/atmosphere
Originality
Personality

H8  Angry Angry Angry
Long intro cutscenes
Compromising for the sake of mass appeal
Corporate aesthetics (perhaps related)
Putting too much emphasis on a bad story
Putting "accessibility" above all else
Psychologically exploitative mechanics
Handholding
Single-mechanic puzzle games
Samey enemies
Boring levels bookended by "epic" boss battles (or vice versa)
Heavy Rain  Wink

LOVE: HEAVY RAIN (fuck you sinclair)
Strong Plots (LIKE HEAVY RAIN)
Pretty Sprites
Focus on Characters
Difficulty
Elegance. Keep it short and keep it simple if that what it takes to make everything of the same high quality.
Tricks that make you feel special for figuring them out (even if it's something that everyone else always figures it out)
Self awareness- its ok to be a little cheesy if you know you are being cheesy.

HATE:
Competitive Games focused on catering to unskilled players
Luck affecting success
Obstacles that require you to use exploits
Pretentiousness
Games without clear focus
Games that try to add artificial innovation. I don't mind you being generic, just do it well.
Unintuitive and/or arbitrary karma systems
Non linearity when it doesn't add anything to the plot or gameplay.

I love combos and chaining and things (but the game needs to be interesting before you start chasing after these things - Ikaruga gets this spot on imho)

I hate upgrading mechanics, which is interesting because I have friends who absolutely love them. I like the idea that you always start with the same chance of winning, and you improve your performance through learning personal skill and strategy, not by playing enough to earn your way to success.

I do like customisation, however, where there's plenty of trade-offs to be made. Pokémon only remembering 4 moves, or having a limited number of people in your RPG party, for example, I really enjoy.

I also like being made to think on my feet. If the field of play is constantly changing I'll really get stuck into that!

And I hate Sokoban-style puzzles. Don't know why, they just frustrate me.
