Dao
« on: March 27, 2011, 12:04:07 AM »

Hi everyone.

Here is a project I started a week ago.

Dao is a Puzzle-Adventure game with 2D Sprites in a 3D environment.

Some basic gameplay concepts :

- Orange objects can be dragged with the cursor, stored and re-used through magic, used to solve puzzles.

- The action menu are affected by physics (it gives it a neat "in the scene" look).

- I intend to design the level puzzles and mechanics using physics, while keeping the environmental look simple.

Here are some more screenshots:

=Controlling objects=

=How it looks when displaying a "stored" object (up to three)=

=Some dynamic part of the first level (rectangles creating a wave effect with physics)=

=Some dev fun!=

The character design is a placeholder only. The final character design will probably be different (still 2D but maybe not "pixelated").

I will post a Demo build as soon as I judge the game ready and presentable.

Give me your feedback!

P.S. - I know I am supposed to do an introduction on the forum, I will do that tomorrow!

Cool, so is there some kind of word-building mechanic, I see all the objects have one-syllable names.

Oh haha, no those are place holders for the "attack" button, "magic" button and "item" button. Sorry for the confusion. : )

Still working on Dao. I'm currently creating the gameplay mechanics.

I added 2 new magics
- One creates a temporary platform the user can jump on for 1 second.
- The other is a light that follows you for darker areas.

The screen still feels too busy, i'll fix that by the next update.

I decided i'll release an alpha when the first level will be complete.

Hey hey guys, no screenshots this time, but I am still developing this game.
I had to halt the making for a bit but I'm back on it since a month.

Just to let you guys know...I am now looking for a JavaScript or C# coder for this game.
It is all being developed in Unity3D.

If you like the style or would be interested to collaborate in anyway, don't hesitate. Just reply in this thread or private message me. Smiley

Thanks! Just created a "coins" system which I called "Trips". They will serve as the score, though I'm not sure yet of their implication in the gameplay. Though they are nice and shiny (and triangle-ish)!
