If atoms and such didn't exist then life as we know it wouldn't be a possibility.  Like rolling a 7 with one die.  It is the case, however, that those things do exist. 

I'm not sure how you think I was implying intelligent design.  Quite the opposite.  I'm saying that it's inevitable that it would happen somewhere in the universe at least once.

Yeah, yeah, you weren't implying intelligent design (obviously). I meant that I agree with you in that regard.
