What are your favorites? I basically could go through a year with two kinds of shoes. I would wear Clarks Desert Boots during the fall through mid-spring. From mid-spring to the beginning of fall I would wear Sperry Top-Siders. Those are my thoughts. <(THESE ARE THE BEST SHOES!)

Macbeth.
I bought some Macbeths and they hurt my achilles tendon something fierce. I either have to buy shoes that have some sort of dip behind the tendon (like many skate shoes) or high tops that don't end near the tendon. Globes and Vans tend to have a lot of cushioning around there too.

I don't know anything at all about shoes really. Right now I mostly wear a pair of Sketchers like these: They're pretty comfy, hold a 3 mile walk decently well, and look semi-professional (but then I work in a CS research lab so who really cares). I'm thinking about getting a pair of Northface Hedgehog: I like the way they look, and apparently are SUPER comfortable for extended walking (which I like to do more and more since Spring/Summer is coming).

I don't know anything at all about shoes really. Right now I mostly wear a pair of Sketchers like these: That's usually what I try to go for, but I only own one pair of shoes at a time (I'm a man, after all) and they're usually Sketches because they're pretty whatever. The ones I have now are more like walking/running sneakers (kinda like the second pic you posted) but they're black Sketchers. The thing that sucks is I have exceptionally wide feet. At the widest part, they're 4.5 inches across. It really sucks when buying shoes because even the ones marked "wide" are never wide enough and they end up hurting my feet. Eventually my feet win the battle and start busting out at the sides. If you look at my current pair of shoes, you'll notice what look like bullet holes on the outside where my pinky toe eventually broke through the stitch

I wear sandals whenever the snow is below my ankles or the water below my toes. Otherwise I wear sneakers I've been meaning to make duct-tape-waterproofed cardboard boots, but haven't had the time or duct-tape.

I have a pair of vietnam combat boots for winter, which came in handy when we had 2 feet of snow My main pair of shoes are Adidas Sambas with purple stripes like this: The tongue keeps sliding to the left after I've walked for a little bit, it annoys me.

I want a pair of shoe with every gimmick available. Air pump on the tongue, lights in the heels, pop-out wheels, soaps...
Also I'm too old for any of that.

I've used like, two pairs of skate shoes over the last 10 years or so, summer through winter, rain through drought. Persistent things. Not the exact model pictured below, though. The property about skate shoes is that you tie the laces once, then slip 'em on and off with unparalleled ease.

This thread has really got me thinking... I'd like to experiment with fashion, but I really try to avoid wearing anything that could label me as a punk, goth, hipster, skater, etc... I think some high boots with straps would be cool, but that would be too evocative of a goth or something... I was thinking of Vampire Hunter D or some elegant badass... Though I'm not some tall, thin, Paul-Eres-esque character, so I probably couldn't pull that off. I'm thinking I would be better suited to boots that were bulky... Matte brown... With multiple straps and studs coming out of them, but nothing overdoing it... Just something hefty that would be comfortable for my feet but also look good on someone as bulky as me. Of course, such a piece of footwear would have to be custom made, no doubt... Maybe someday when I have lots of money I can do that...

I hate shoes. I walk around barefoot as much as I can. I'm also somewhat fond of sandals because they're the closest you get to wearing no footwear while still wearing footwear.

Big-ass snow boots in the winter (I took a nasty spill on some ice a couple of years ago, spraining my ankle so severely that I had to take a month off work; it's never quite been the same since, so I'm extra careful about weather-appropriate footwear). Black trainers in the autumn. Bright green Gola suede sneaks in the summer and spring.

New Balance running shoes for me. They are really comfortable and lightweight. I used to be a hardcore boots fan, but now I prefer speed over toughness.
