I didn't find capping very fun, either. Even if you do sneak into the enemy base, there's so many of them there that it's just a game of "who sees who first". Whoever doesn't see the other person dies almost instantly. I'd like it to take a little more to kill somebody, because people just seem too flimsy at the moment, especially when you spend 20 minutes sneaking into the enemy base only to die and restart on the other side of the world.

And you consider this a bad thing why? Because all they have to do to make their intel invincible is have someone watching it at all times. It's 100% effective and 0% fun. Also because it is a shooting game and not a stealth game.

Also because it is a shooting game and not a stealth game. you could throw in a distraction so that who ever behind enemy lines can receive the intel. though I always felt the real fun from the game not the Capturing the Intel and Winning but the experience the game brings when you help your team achieve a goal what ever it is. though my team was swamp by an army of greens when they decided to rush us and kill any one who just spawn while the designated intel carrier was free from harm. though the point is there no fun/point in grabbing the intel.

If there's no point in grabbing the intel, then why is it there in the first place? I don't really think that's the case. Helping your teammates do things is certainly fun, but it's pretty clear that the game is trying to focus people toward more of an objective than Minecraft. Some people enjoy just helping teammates, but others are interested in feeling like they've accomplished a mission of some kind, and when there's none set out other than "don't get shot and also there is some intel hiding under several layers of concrete," it's not terribly fun. That isn't to say that you don't find it fun, but it seems like there's a fair amount of people in agreement that the fighting needs to be tweaked a bit. Considering that the game is going on the theme of "Minecraft with guns", I think it's fair that people are interested in seeing a game that takes the destructible terrain in a bit of different direction, and adds some more goals than are present in Minecraft.

wait I was going with infiniminer with guns where it takes the already competitive game of building and adds guns to it giving people means of defending their area differently. minecraft was a co-op first kinda deal with no PvP adding guns to that game should lead to a hunting game where you can snipe pigs, deer, creepers from long distances. which then convert the game to be "under the garden 3d"

I'm waiting for a voxel engine that makes it a bit easier to make games like this. I have so many ideas for stuff to make. Voxlap may satisfy but I haven't looked into it in great detail yet.

I have been reading research papers on voxels on the side all semester, and now that the semester is over I would like to dedicate part of my time to playing around with actually implementing some voxel stuff. There's a lot of cool research going on right now and there's no good reason that indies shouldn't have access to it.

rifle fire breaks blocks is back now. so pelt the defense with enough bullets that their forts crumble!

If anyone gets the chance to play on the Paradise map, it's beautiful to run through and look at, but there are also a lot more places for people to hide in and snipe from.

Oh btw - my mapping technique works. I made Mesa and Icecap, both of which occasionally pop up on servers. Mesa got a new version yesterday, and its first host has been thoroughly torn up after about 12 hours play

Haha yeah, it's almost a fool's errand to design a nice looking map, cause it's gonna get leveled at some point. Hopefully we'll get some options to make that tougher some time.

it's one dream to have a site be dismantle and cut into. You're making Cakes which the players eat. edit thanks for the grammar fix jakman4242.
