i haven't tried the multiplayer yet, but is the store one that needs real money? i mean it seems like it would make a lot more sense to just reward players with points to spend based on skill or how well they do in puzzles.

I can't buy Portal 2 It is because I pre-ordered The Witcher 2 :D In fact, it is the first game EVER that I pay more than 30 USD (and the first game EVER that I pre-order, or rather, that I buy on launch... The game that I bought closes to launch before, was portal 1, and I bought it 1 year and 8 months after launch...)

I'm on chapter 7 and there's the part where you fling onto two splotches of blue to end up on the platform that (appears to hold) the next exit. However, if I drop onto the floor below for the fling, I'm just short of the platform so that I bump the edge and fall. If I jump down I go too fast and land ahead of the second blue splotch. If I bounce-jump down, I land between the first and second. I've also tried bouncing out onto the previous area (avoiding the portal-destroyer-thingie) and trying some of the drops there but none of them fit. Anyone know what I'm talking about and have some advice? edit: I finally got it. Silly orange goop being all inconspicuous-like edit: the box+turret thing is so CUTE

It's time someone take all the gimmick shooter idea and make one game that use them all as toy and strategic tool rather than puzzle!
Portal (better limit them with a resource) Time manipulation (local, global, rewind, renew, accelerate) Gravity telekinesis (gravity gun) Psychokinesis (controlling people) Surface property (tag /portal 2) Destruction/construction ou mining (fracture and minecraft style) size shifting Grappling hook etc...
First Fps to do that instead of usual shootgun/pistol/Gatling/bazooka... is a winner
No kidding that's feature creep lol (just cause 2?)

The ending of the game was so brilliant when you think about it
SUPER OMG SPOILERS:
Why was the moon a portable surface? Well they mentioned earlier that the white goo was made out of ground up moon rocks...

This game is pretty great. Well, it starts off well, and the middle is good. Same for the ending. Not totally sure about the rest. Anyway. I just came in here to post this comment from eva, on Derek banning her: [21:38] <eva> he ended my 25post streak [21:38] <eva> dang it almost got a nuke It's most amusing if you have access to the excised two-page thread consisting entirely of eva posts.

As someone who pre-ordered, I feel betrayed.
Why It's all fluff content. It's silly and intangible, but if you're not interested in it then it doesn't matter at all. It is fluff content, but I don't condone that shit in general and I feel that it wasn't fair to me and whoever else that pre-ordered to withhold that information.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. The writing has definitely improved since the first game, and it feels very reverential of Portal without repeating the beaten-to-death jokes. The puzzles are also a bit more challenging, and the various mechanical additions are great. The lack of a challenge mode is a bit disheartening, though.
Glados and Wheatley are also extremely well-written and voiced. Glados feels a lot more sinister and conniving than she did in the first game (probably because she has no morality core any more) and Wheatley is so retarded it's hilarious.
Overall, top-notch job. Excellent writing, fantastic puzzles, visually very stunning (shit yeah increased environmental variety), quite satisfying. The store is a bit puzzling (also stupid) but eh, whatever.
