so i'm considering putting together a couple indie arcade machines, putting them in a van and driving them around the US, possibly to burning man, possibly to some music venues.

i want to put some of the best and most psychedelic/gonzo games in them. i have my own ideas about what those are, but i'd love to hear other people's opinions. games that would look good in the desert, games that have overwhelming/unorthodox visuals or audio but also work well in the context of an arcade.

I don't have any suggestions but this sounds cool and deserves more attention.

Sounds pretty cool. cactus and messhof would be obvious choices but I'm sure there are others as well.

Tasty Static. Dong Dong Never Die. BUTTON. Wind & Water Puzzle Battles. Maybe Cortex Command. Maybe Octodad (the Burning Man crowd will shit themselves over Octodad, those dudes are on a lot of drugs). Hydorah. Crayon Physics if you can be arsed setting up a machine with a mouse (or, even better, a graphics tablet).

You should totally build a winnitron, if your that serious about it. I think you get some software to download and put on a computer in the cabinet that includes a select screen and a bunch of Indiegames(http://winnitron.ca/games/) and a couple of other features that I think require an internet connection though.

This forum post explains what you have to do to get it and some of the features etc.: http://bitcollective.ca/forums/index.php?topic=2.0

Definitely make a Winnitron.

Some of the games from the recent Versus competition here would probably work well in an arcade setting.

My game Knot-Pharmacard Subcondition J is pretty tripped out, might suit your purposes. (link)

Good luck, sounds an interesting venture!

Maybe Cortex Command.

This does not bode well.
