Hey all,

Please have a look at my latest game: Ball on a Wall
http://www.smallgreenhill.com/ballonawall/demo.php

As far as I'm aware it's a fairly original concept - (and if it's not, I've managed to independently invent it Wink ) You slide cubes in and out of a wall in order to guide the ball to the pickup, making sure the ball doesn’t fall to the bottom of the screen. If you're too slow and miss the pickup, it explodes and destroys part of the wall, making getting the pickup more difficult in subsequent rounds. As you progress, the game gets faster and trickier elements are introduced, like locks that prevent you from sliding out parts of the wall. The link is to a webdemo. (and there is a full paid version for PC and Mac).

Thanks for taking the time, if you decide to have a look.

Really like the concept! Seems to play OK, although the 1-life, back to start if you die approach I found a bit frustrating.

Crashed for me in the tutorial (at "the pickup has an internal time limit"). Windows Vista / Firefox 4.0. This wasn't a hard crash, since the game was still responding to clicks on the menu, but the tutorial wouldn't proceed further and I had to reload the game to play.

Oh.. woops! Yep a little bug introduced by a last minute change.. The version up there now should work fine.

Thanks a bunch for mentioning it.

Fixed! SmileyHand Thumbs Up Right

Incidentally, having now played a little more of the game I've run into a behaviour which may be a bug or may be a feature I don't like much... If the ball collides with the corner of a block then whether it ends up on top of it or falls off doesn't appear to respect momentum the way it would in the real world. So, for example, my ball is falling so i quickly build a small 4x4 bucket to catch it in. The ball brushes the corner of the top left block on the way down, but instead of being knocked rightward by the impact it hops up onto the block and rolls off it to the left.

Yeah that one is deliberate. They're a bit tricky those edge cases, I tried a few different behaviors and thought this one made it easiest on the player. If the ball gets knocked away as you expect, I thought that made it really tricky to climb cubes and rescue the ball when it was over a cube edge, so I went with this less realistic option. It should be a consistent behavior, so once you learn that's the way it works, I hope the player accepts it and adopts it into his/her strategies.

Incidentally, you can check out a video of the game in action here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR-ufkpFBKU if you can't use the Unity player on your PC/iPhone etc.
