http://store.steampowered.com/app/35480/A new Steam game that looks essentially like a more accessible version of Dwarf Fortress. I've never personally been able to get into Dwarf Fortress, so it looks kind of interesting. Here's a video of Simon from the Yogscast playing it (he likes dwarfs): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XXAoJbCYVqsWhat do you think? I don't like to pay for stuff, but I think it looks like it could be interesting nonetheless.

The beta was accessible on their site for some time. I played it quite a bit. It's nothing like Dwarf Fortress, but it's better for it. It plays a lot like an arcade game, and in general it's really, really well designed in that regard.

It doesn't look like DF at all.
That said, the DF guy could team up with Oryx for some tiny sprite deliciousness and DF would be 10x more appealing based on graphics alone.
The other possibility would be to team up with Notch to create a 3D DF... Hmm... That would be kinda awesome, if DF and Minecraft made sweet sweet love and had a baby together...

Yup, from the video, this has no similarities with DF at all, apart from the "setting" and the digging mechanic (which DF took from Dungeon Keeper anyway).
I dunno, the gameplay looks decent and the voice acting is funny but the graphics are kinda a a turnoff. They're a bit too close to that bland "casual game" look for comfort.

Based on what I've seen it looks great, and like sinclar said, it reminds me more of dungeon keeper than df, what with the town centre/dungeon heart kinda thing

I bought and played it today, and it's really really good.
Kinda like a casual RTS mixed with Lemmings.

Seconded. If the lemmings did everything they could to kill all the other lemmings, that is.
