Greetings boys and girls!
The next Blitzkast is almost upon us.

http://www.thepoppenkast.com/view/Stampede/blitzkast-monthly-ii/

There we are. second blitzkast. This sunday!

Here's a reminder of what the hub-bub is all about.
Organized by the Poppenkast, the Blitzkast is a monthly game jam kinda thing happening on the second Sunday of every month. This month is technically the earliest possible day in a month where the second Sunday can be, the 8th! Think about it.

The idea
Participants have the whole day Sunday to spend around 4 hours on a new game project/prototype. The time limit is there to make people keep their project scope in check, to have the right aim to get something started and finished that day. Its no big deal to go over 4 hours. Kind of a rule of thumb.
Participants are strongly encouraged to join up the Poppenkast IRC channel during the blitz to share how their things are doing. Its at server irc.slashnet.org, channel name #poppenkast. Last time we also had sort of a skype conference call going on throughout the thing, that was okay.

Why participate?
Its the perfect excuse to take a break from your usual projects and go nuts on something new and refreshing for just a short while. You just have four hours to lose...
Its time to experiment and do weird stuff! Or not. Just make a generic shmup/platformer/whatever. I don't even care man. I actually don't even care.

This time around, the optional theme is "Fixing up the fantasy genre". So many possibilities! You don't even have to follow the theme anyway, but you definitely get bonus points for it, which you can redeem on judgement day to buy yourself a couple years out of limbo from Lucifer.

Once Sunday comes and you got something to show, post it in the topic made just for that in the poppenkast forum: http://www.thepoppenkast.com/forum/index.php?topic=2911.0
You can also show it off here if you're into that.

Though you can spend your hours any time next Sunday, you are strongly encouraged to start at around 18:00 UTC and join the irc channel. The idea is that if we have an official start time, people are more likely to start together and itll be more active, interesting and stimulating!

Once it starts anything goes, people can work on games together in spontaneous teams or individually. So pick up your XNAs and Game Makers and Unities and Flashpunks and Multimediar Fusions and whatever the cool kids use these days and
get ready to rOCkK AND RoLL

Here are the wonderful games made last month!

My 1 1/2 cent: http://www.dragonlab.de/projects/force/jam_version/Force.html

(The final prototype will probably later on be available under http://www.dragonlab.de/projects/force/Force.html)

Thanks for the jam, was a good reason to finally try out this idea!

Is it neurotic that I pushed all the circles into the bottom-right corner?  Who, Me?

Good luck continuing it! Smiley It's good that it feels quite light, even using a laptop touchpad.

It's easier to get them up to speed to actually hit something there.
