I saw the trailer on Steam before seeing this thread. I actually thought the developers of the game were called Alexey and Markus. I didn't make any connexion to Alexey Pajitnov and/or Markus Persson. If it was intended as a devious marketing ploy I don't think it's a very good one. Ask the average Steam/xbox user who the creators of Tetris and MineCraft are and they'll probably reply "Nintendo and notch"

So wait, Notch and Pajitnov were not actually involved in the development of this at all?
7 (...) Before that they were working on a seasons after fall their original IP: http://vimeo.com/15848962 trailer Typical indie develloper: start working on a dreamy artsy embryo of a game that goes nowhere and then make a match-3 clone on IOS or sthg...

Idk, maybe 13 year old Xbox kiddies don't know who these guys are but it's not like they are extremely obscure or unknown. Btw I've known that Alexey Pajitnov is the creator of Tetris since age 8 or sth because his name appears in the Gameboy version's intro screen.

Hi, I'm one of the two developers of Blocks That Matter. Not sure if I should answer all the "nice" things that have been said here about us or about the game. But if you have questions, I'll be glad to answer them.

I'm sure a lot of people are curious about the matter of 'permission'; did you ask for proper permission for all the references? Or did you feel they didn't warrant permission (for instance, you gave credit to original developers and platforms and such).
Also, what inspired your storyline?

Guys, ya'know what's awful? An homage. Nothing should ever reference anything that came before it.
That's why art should be burned.

I'm guessing because they made games that matter and feature blocks.
