110mb has been pretty unreliable lately. I think I want to find a different host. Any suggestions? Something I can use Wordpress with?

do not use free webhosts like 110mb, they're always bad
i'd suggest nearlyfreespeech.net
shared servers are also unreliable, but good if you want to host the game yourself to a large audience and don't want to pay by the gb through nearlyfreespeech (the transfer rate may be lower though)

After having a bad host they were awesome. Best customer service I've ever had from any type of company, not just web hosts.

I've heard good stuff about HostGator. If you're driving some time, you might stumble upon one of their billboard advertisements with a coupon code.

iPage seems pretty good. It's certainly easy to work with, as I've been commissioned to develop a website which uses one of their servers.
That said, I don't know how well it would perform under stress.

I'm on a2hosting, it's very good. The support is fast and competent. They provide many services for the hosting; furthermore they provide version control systems (this was decisive for my choice).

I've been pretty satisfied with DreamHost. I've also heard good things about Slicehost if you want more control, but it is a little bit more expensive.

I'll chip in with what other people say, and confirm that I've had good experiences with nearlyfreespeech.

I was having an issue with PHP persmissions and database access with NearlyFreeSpeech. I posted the problem and error message, and what I was trying to do, in the support forums. Less than two hours later, an NFS employee responded, "fixed. thanks for letting us know" and I went back to my site to find things working perfectly. They truly are a great company and a very good choice if you don't need something that their service doesn't offer (e.g. you can't run a Ruby on Rails app and serving your game as an HTTP download from their servers might become expensive).

another story about nearlyfreespeech: recently there was an error that cost some people (a small percent of people) an extra penny per day. they immediately stopped charging everyone, and gave everyone days free while they fixed the problem, and they managed to find out what the problem is and refund the pennies to that small %, and everyone else got free days. i think the average loss per person who was affected was only 17 cents (which was refunded after they caught the error).

I've been liking HawkHost, none of the "unlimited" space/bandwidth nonsense and pretty reputable (I haven't had to speak with the customer service yet, but I hear it's good).

NearlyFreeSpeech looks like it could get rather expensive pretty quickly. How much do you guys pay for it per month, on average?

http://www.lunarpages.com/ is extremely cheap and I've never run into down time with it. Windows web hosting is only $10 a month if you want to run a game server, and basic hosting is $5 (unlimited storage and bandwidth).

Get yourself a cheap VPS. Check out: http://www.lowendbox.com/This one has gotten some good reviews: http://buyvm.net/Then just set up yourself a web server ( http://nginx.org/). Going this way is useful since down the road maybe you want to create a database for game metrics or you want a dedicated server for a multiplayer game, you can quickly set one up for yourself.

Hmm, I've got an old Dell desktop that I haven't turned on in at least a year. Maybe I should make it a web server.

I pay about $3 - $4 a month at the most. Usually it's closer to about $2
