calling MIA is just catering to bad players who lack map awareness. it's always used as an excuse or a way to blame someone else "OMG MID DIDN'T CAL MIA GG NOOBS".
though sometimes a lane is just busy. if I mouse over and see that they are trading with the enemy or trying to kill, and I suspect the other person in my lane will help their teammate, I will ping or tell them to watch out. but beyond that, I refuse to call MIA if the other team is just afk farming and have no other excuse for not looking at the map.
and you can easily lose CS from typing. every time I go to type something I will make sure there won't be a last hit in the next couple seconds so I don't miss any. can't count how many times I recalled thinking I have an item but literally only one last hit away! frustrating.
True full map awareness is something not obtainable in this game reasonably, yeah I'll check the map, but things go down sometime to distract players from the map. Take for example SC2, one of the more popular Esports as of late, many of the top players in the entire world are still missing stim marine drops till they actually get an under attack voice message, even if they are not fighting anywhere else, so even at the very highest level of play these mistakes still happen. I don't expect my pub teams to see anything, anywhere. Anyways, I just have 3 macro's set to just say "mid/top/bot mia" so I guess thats why I'm not having the dropped cs problem. I highly suggest you try this.

Don't expect anyone to see anything- anywhere, even your trusted friends.
It's very easy to miss anyone leaving from a lane.
Maybe someone ran away with 1% health. Well, they shouldn't be a problem soon, right? They got their ass kicked, right? Suddenly before you know it they've ganked a different lane and have full health, they used teleport or they just got there very quickly.
Even amazing players can become distracted and lose map awareness for a period of time.

i dont see the harm in giving your teammates as much info as possible when you're on voice chat at least (why doesnt league have voice chat yet - they told us during closed beta that would be in before the beta opened and it's been like 3 years now)
unless you're playing with monster king whose favorite quote is "well good for him" as soon as he realizes you are talking about an enemy player. in some way this is actually endearing, like when someone has beaten you up. i recommend moba players assert their dominance 24/7

Yeah. It feels like just about everyone playing LoL has it.
But there's that one in a million match, like the one I wrote about up there, where everyone is nice and lacking in the mental disability department.
But there's always that game where the enemy yi gets so fed he takes you down in 3 hits before you can do anything.

the weird thing about that 3v5 is the enemy wasn't that bad.
their Nautilus caused top (riven) to rage quit and our jungler (lee sin) did some fail ganks and fed 5 kills before he rage quit too.
we just got lucky and Vayne had a bunch of early kills and free farm. after all our feeder's left we avoided all team fights and warded their jungle. was able to pick them off one by one until it got late enough (45 minutes or so) where we could rush into their base and destroy it with me tanking the towers. only 3v5 teamfight we won was when they took our inhib and fiddle got a good ult.
oh and did I mention Vayne was a brazillian with a 200+ ping? because that's important.

Why is there a support teemo bot lane who screws up all the CS w/o actually taking any of it, then complains to me, the AD carry about taking his CS, then proceeds to drop the bot lane, on a gank teemo masterfully runs up further, adding the maximum potential distance to cover in order to escape. I bet someone you know has Single. Digit. Elo. because that teemo isn't cutting it =P (I'm totally just kidding /fake rage)
