To compensate, most AP abilities usually have a higher base damage than comparable AD abilities.

And AP is about 2x cheaper on items too.

Not by a whole lot for late-game items. I'd say it's roughly even for late-game. There is definitely a discrepency in early-game, though, but that's because AP characters are really weak without AP items, whereas AD characters are usually pretty strong without stacking AD.

Just becuase people are bad doesn't mean you have to treat them bad, even if you are super good and they are doing terrible. Unless they are trolling or intentionally doing bad, there is no reason to get angry and call them bad and flame on them. I punish every case I see someone doing that. the whole tribunal thing has been bothering me because I was sure that the majority of the players would be snobbish to bad players and empathetic to nerdragers and ragequitters, i'm glad to see that it's being used (by at least yourself) as intended rather than a tool to make the game more exclusive to those who already know it well.

Being bad is one thing. Purposefully wrecking someone else's game (assuming they are a pubbie) is something else.

So far I haven't had a single case even remotely close to the "Pardon" Area. If I were to judge on a single game, yes some cases really aren't that big of a deal. Some minor flaming, some snobbery and the usual "feeder, ban he" harassing the second the Support Character goes 5/5/30. But any sympathy I have is usually quickly remedied by the other reported games where something just seems to have ticked in their mind and they go on a rather unpleasant rampage.
As always I'm baffled by the all apparant internet logic: "You want something, best way to get it, is to impress the other person with your barrage of holocaust remarks and downright nasty personal insults, topped off with death threats and 'healthy' doses of racism".

Thing is, to get to Tribunal, you have to have been reported multiple times within the same match. I believe it's by at least 4 people. So, generally, you'll have to be a pretty huge dickhead.

one thing: rabadon's deathcap changes all this. the 30% boost you get to all AP makes AP cheaper late-game. there are also no AD items that give more than 100 AD, not even close, whereas there are several items that give more than 100 AP it's a lot easier to reach 1000 AP than 1000 AD -- i don't think i've even ever seen 1000 AD (though it's probably possible somehow)

Yeah I typically have 2-4X AP on a AP carry over a AD carry. Rabaddons makes a big difference.

But yeah, AP does tend to increase more, probably because it's bound by ratios where AD is not (since AD has a 1:1 ratio to basic attacks).

you also forget critical damage. most ad carries get infinity edge and if you crit with just a bloodthirster and an infinity edge that is an extra ~400 damage with just around 180 bonus ad.
like with vayne's ult or tumble (which gives bonus attack damage) you can crit for 1000 on nearly every hit with just an infinity edge.
mages don't have that luxury of crits.

I feel like learning to play this. My username is GlaielGamer, can someone teach me? I know kinda how moba-style games work so I should be able to pick it up relatively easy if someone just help me learn the characters and items and abilities and whatnot

anyone from the #allen crew could probably teach you pretty quickly -- dragonmaw is tegiminis, allen is alllen, i'm rinkuhero -- the big problem though is that you start at level 1 and we're all level 30, so you'll be facing *much* tougher opponents if you play with us vs playing by yourself or other low-level people. i'd recommend trying a few vs AI games first, those are designed to teach you the game and you almost never lose them
