Well, this is an interesting development: https://twitter.com/Skullgirls/status/312730711197114369It's hard not to see the cynical side of this generous offer, but overall I think it is a very positive thing. (Regardless of anyone's thoughts on MLP etc. I personally don't care for it at *all* but that really isn't the point here.) It's pretty much a win-win situation, given that donations are of course voluntary, and provided that it is also made very clear what the donations are actually for.

Mane is a group making a My Little Pony themed fighting game that's done well enough to get a beta build featured on JayIsGames.
It seems like an attempt to get My Little Pony fans to buy into Skullgirls to get reciprocal support for "their" MLP game.

I don't see what they're going to do with an unproven, beta quality fighting game engine when they have a full, complete, tested and released one, but whatever.

It's a website that focuses on freeware browser games during the week, and downloadable (free or otherwise) games on weekends. They do host a lot of casual games (Bigfish hidden object and time management games show up a lot on weekends) but they'll pick up more popular indie games now and again, especially freeware ones. A lot of TIGSource games make it there, so a few of the editors are regular TIGSource forumgoers.

These guys, per-character, are out-animating Arc System Works. In a slightly-beyond-indie size team. And they're probably turning to some specialists for fine-tuning.
Those figures are closer to realistic than you might expect; and this is from someone who's start was tweaking the PC SF2CE engine.

When was Arcsys known for animation? Their sprites were always horribly under-animated.

It looks okay, the art is good for a start and the game play looks alright. 50/50 chance I would buy...
