The widget front screen thingy is webified. The background is pretty much windows 7.

I dunno what everyone is up in arms about. If anything it's a good move. Silverlight didn't take.

Unfortunately I haven't seen anything really change with that. So far it seems like a waste of $120 if all I get is a useless touchscreen mode.

That most (or at least many) of us can't even use.

What saw was just a small preview, Micro-Soft said, so it doesn't have all the "different" features planned. What was the difference between Windows 95 and 98 in this case?

Wow, that article was horrible.

Yes, we programmers have favourite languages, for whatever reason. We can also learn new ones. What's the big deal?

I in no way believe Ars Technica saying that current programs won't run on Win8. But then again, what else can I expect from a publication that thinks C++ is "low-level" and HTML5 is "mid-level"?

What's high level programming, Ars Technica? Writing Excel formulas?

/ call me back when you're just coding 1's and 0's for processor opcodes

IIRC, the introduction of "Plug and Play." Durr...?

At first, it was affectionately referred to as "Plug and Pray." But before that, every piece of equipment that could plug into your computer (besides maybe headphones) required running a setup disk and a system restart.
