OGF is a really divisive movie but I thought it was pretty rad on both viewings and I love Refn. had no issues with the substance and the style was absolutely ace
the shots in the karaoke bar were perfect. reminded me of refn's perfect frame in Bronson where the guards are posed around/on the speakers.. sooooo stylish

Yesterday I watched Short Term 12, I loved it. Now I find I'm way more interested in these types of flicks, I still enjoy mindless action/over-the-top fx stuff (also watched Pacific Rim and Elysium, which I did enjoy) but I find I can get a lot more enjoyment in the long term from a film like Short Term 12.
Any other emotional real-life inspired movies like this you recommend me? Documentaries are also good, as I really like true, real life stories.
Almost slept when the Chinese and Russian Jaegers were fighting Kaijus... I'd suggest Jiro dreams of sushi, it's really good, watched it last week + I think you(indie devs) could relate to it. Just watched Divergent, well... meh...

Just watched Divergent, well... meh... Yeah that movie is quite interesting. After watching it I was so desperate to try that sushi, too bad I had to make do with the not so good sushi shops here in my town... Any other suggestions in the same vein? I love to watch these types of films.

On the contrary, it is really good. Hah, now I guess I have to see it. Drive and Bronson were pretty good IMO.

Content is for books, movies are for looks. Not really but it rhymes.

We couldn't make it through. I admit the pictures were pretty but it was way too slow (pot wasn't helping), we tried watching it at x2 speed for a while but that was just confusing on top of the slowness. Maybe I'll watch it alone some other time just to see all the pictures, or maybe I'll use it as background for something more social - kinda like I did with Interstella 5555.

I recently watched The Truman Show. Wow, what a movie. It's full of great attention to detail. Jim Carrey's performance is phenomenal. It's got interesting themes and story arc, all whilst being entertaining, funny and engrossing. As far as I can tell it's a perfect movie. tennattaten.
I also saw Jarhead. Not as much to say about this one. War... war is hell and all that business. It had some good parts. The flaming oil fields setting was particularly cool. I guess I didn't really 'get' the movie.
