So I just watched Gone Girl and

*midspoilersss*

i figured somewhat the twist since the beginning. When the important twist showed up, I felt like, awww come on, a bunch of exposition at the end without a clean revelation throughout the movie and the bad guy wins in such a lame way? And then it dawned on me this was just the first half of the movie. Then i remained delightfully compelled to keep watching. Admittedly, the idiot ball was required for some major parts  of the second half to work, which I have never liked, but i was overall satisfied.

No movie of the year, but closer than other nominated  films.

Yeah I'm not sure what to think of Gone Girl.

I mean it was certainly good, but I can't really figure out what I thought was good about it.

It sure was a movie though.

I watched 12 Angry Men.

Wow, what an incredible film. impeccable writing and tension. Just perfect. I haven't seen a movie that's swept me away like this in a long time.

Oh man that's a great film. I watched it in class, and it's the one old movie that the vast majority of my classmates enjoyed, even though obviously they generally watch only popular hollywood stuff.

comic book movies, those who create them, and those who countenance them, be it overtly or silently, can eat my entire dick and ass

The only one I've ever watched has been The Dark Knight.
Which, I mean, was alright. Joker gets quoted too often, he was edgy but didn't really say a lot of interesting stuff.

Joker says "Your boss is dum and world is dum".

What a philosological movie.

I don't like comic book movies at all, but I suspect that's because superheroes don't interest me at all. Not even the æsthetic. Most of them seriously look like toys that are made from them. Plastic and often overly colourful. It doesn't speak to me even on that level.

I did see all the Dark Knight movies, however, and at least one can have a good laugh (constantly through the movies) at Bale's ridiculous BATMAN voice in a set of movies that otherwise try to be pretty darn serious. It ruins the whole atmosphere. Bane's voice isn't helping either. I love sticking my mouth into a paper cup and imitating him.

it was; the first one has a bad first act and a plodding third act and this one's smooth as butter
