From Dusk Till Dawn
Salma Hayek...
Nothing else in the movie matches those fleeting seconds.

One of my favorite horror films; also a first-rate road film. I rewatch it every so often.

I can't stop rewatching this trailer for this movie. The reviews either call it 'amazing Tarkovsky-esque' or 'crap Tarkovsky-lite'. It was made 2 years ago and is just getting out of arthouse now and it's a perfect relic of the 80s. I really want to see it but I really don't want to be disappointed by it Click to embiggen.

Seems like 70s to me. But looks nice yes, might try to get this from somewhere. I like the idea of nothing happening in the movie, I like to collect such films but it is quite difficult.

I watched 2 Chan-wook Park movies in a row last night.
Beginning with Mr. Vengeance which is a hyper realistic take on a revenge story. A kidnapping that that goes wrong which causes the direction of the movie to switch around the half-time mark. The movie is fucking beautifully shot throughout, very intelligent visually. Out of the vengeance trilogy this movie has the most impactful violence, it uses it sparingly but to great effect.
The last movie I had not seen from the vengeance trilogy was Lady Vengeance. I think it was not nearly as visually brilliant as either Oldboy or Mr. Vengeance. It didn't feature much violence either. It's generally the weakest in the series but it paints some interesting moral dilemmas when it comes to taking justice in your own hands. It's a movie that pretty much plays out in the head of the main character and features a lot of symbolism and some of it I honestly did not grasp. I just had a problem with how the main plot felt put aside for a large portion of the movie, it felt too aimless at times even if most of the movie is about the main character calling in favors.

Don't watch a lot of movies but I recently watched "The Crazies". Wasn't that scary and I don't understand how it got 4 and a half stars. It was a pretty mediocre horror movie.

Rise of the Guardians was pretty good for an animated movie, I enjoyed it.

Watched the Asylum's SHERLOCK HOLMES adaptation Movie was fun and genuinely well acted; worth watching for anyone who thinks it looks fun and doesn't mind pretty terrible CGI

I want to see Skyfall. fo sho.
Moonrise was a little bit of a downer for me. Didn't like it nearly as much as anything else by Wes Anderson. It's almost as if it were directed by someone that was trying to be really Wes Anderson. It wasn't as...subtle? authentic? something... as his other stuff to me.
