I like Hausu, Pink Flamigos, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Harryhausen Sinbads, Apocalypse Now ... pretty long list actually.

Oh my god I hate "A History of Violence".
It's so fucking drawn out, exhausting, and dumb. There's no tension or complexity, and it's mired in forced sentimentality that falls flat out of dull, paper-thin characters. The movie truncated a whole fourth of the comic (whose story is just as bad as the movie's), and is executed in the matter-of-fact dull ass horror movie technique that would accentuate the violence and drama if there was any interesting story in the first place.
It's way too verbal, way too blunt, and way way way too obvious. I would not recommend this movie.

Recently watched "The Big Lebowski", but didn't get what the big fuss and 'cult status' is about. I get it - it's cool to be lazy and let things go without trying to control them too much, otherwise I see no hidden message. But all around good movie of course.

1974 for me. I see where you're coming from. 1974 is full of movies I'm looking forward to watching but haven't gotten around to yet. The Conversation, Edvard Munch, A Woman Under the Influence etc. But then there's plenty of 1979 movies I haven't watched either...

great, thanks! that reminds me ive never seen clockwork orange or apocalypse now Clockwork is incredibly weird when viewing it cold. It's kind of like an irony played out in extremes, so it's easy to dismiss it as exploitative at first.

Nice list. But to see Pasolini's Salo in there, and no mention of Jodorowsky's El Topo(70), and or The Holy Mountain(73) made me sad. I mean El Topo is kinda the beginning of the American midnight movies craze sweeping from New York on to the west coast. A kind of granddaddy to the Rocky Horrow Picture Show screenings. But really.. big deal. And Polanski's great stuff came out in the 60's and 70's sort of. He had Chinatown(74). People liked that one, I guess. Also there are tons of late sixty type of Movies that bleed into the 70's. Electra Glide in Blue(73) is one that pops in my brain. Its those shots, and the audio treatments that say 70's cinema to me. And the freedom to try it.

I'm not a big fan of Jodorowsky, though I've only seen El Topo and The Holy Mountain. I didn't really get them so I'm sure they'll grow on second viewings but I can't say I'm excited for watching a movie I was lukewarm about multiple times instead of any of the 300 movies on my ever-increasing watchlist that I'm absolutely stoked for.
Have only seen Chinatown and Rosemary's Baby by Polanski, both of which I was pretty meh about. I can recognise Chinatown as a good movie but it just didn't click with me and Rosemary's Baby had some strong elements but was ultimately pretty silly.
Hadn't heard of Electra Glide in Blue before.

I've watched Holy Mountain and loved but el topo seems to interest me and disinterest me at the same time.

@ChainsawKitten.. It was 'your' list. Hehehehehe, so yeah. I didn't churn one out, but I was thinking about it all day. I get it why Jodorowskys films aren't on it. Rosemary's baby is from the sixties. Chinatown didn't click with me either. I'd probably would have loved that type of film better in B&W.
I love the colors and the audio production (or lack of) in A.Jodorowsky's films. I think of 'em as more like celluloid poetry than a straight linear authored story.
Plus, I also love colorful normalcy turned disturbing imagery. Jodorowsky had a thing for human body abnormalities. Prolly the only reason when my friends and I went to see "Its fine, everything is fine." and "What is it?", I wasn't only interested in why Crispin Glover used some seriously handicapped actors.
@AntonioDamala I say it all the time. "There is so a game in El Topo."
