Hi everyone ! Gentleman

I have just finished a little game, and I need your feedback ! Smiley

My purpose was to create a minimalist "ambiance" platform game.

I’d recommend to play it with a pad (I do, using Xpadder), but it should work with a keyboard as well. If you’re on Windows 7, you should run the application as administrator (right-click, etc…), otherwise the game won’t work properly.

UP allows you to jump.

SPACE creates a block under the Probe (as long as you have some in stock).

ENTER engages the auto-destruction of the Probe, which is particularly useful if you get stuck because of your own blocks, for example.

And the LEFT or RIGHT arrow keys obviously are used to go left or right.

Careful ! You need to refill the probe’s energy in lit areas quite often, otherwise your probe will progressively lose its power, become slower and slower and finally turn off, cutting the signal.

Thank you for your time, I hope you'll enjoy it !

(please note that all sounds used in this game are not mine, and licensed under the Creative Commons Sampling Plus 1.0 license, from Freesound.org.)

I had to try this just because the name sounded so familiar. Smiley

I liked Probe's minimalistic feel and the atmosphere. Sound efects were also good. I could not get very far mainly beacause probe slowed down so often.  I didn't find any checkpoints. Are there any? Nice little game.

Ah, yet I was certain that the name "Probe" was too original to have already been used ... ^^'
Thanks for your feedback ! Smiley
The probe goes slow with time when it's not in lit areas, sometimes you need to go back to refill energy or else it probably ends senile and shut down Wink (you can press ENTER to autodestroy the probe if you think you have no way to save it).
There are 3 checkpoints, the last one gives you infinite lives !

Hey Koubo, as I told you on Newgrounds, I discover your game when you submit it and even if my first reaction was "WTF is that small things?!!" I was quickly fond of it.

For me the game screen format is great and the game mecanics are as simple as efficient. The only point I dislike in your game is the sound. I'm sure you could provide a great atmosphere if you manage to find an ambient sound or music + better feedback sounds.

The graphical style reminds me of my Ludum Dare entry Sonar haha.
Seriously i was the first person to only use green in a game.

Yup, I answered you a couple of days ago ! Smiley

Concerning the sound, I will not lie : I'm not an expert in sound design, far from that. I picked some assets I found on freesound.org, fitting with my views. I never considered to add music, besides. That's the problem to work alone ; you can't focus on every point of your creation (unless you're a multi-gifted genious...).

@Nugsy : Seriously ? You are the creator of the original Game Boy palette ? Wink

I was joking too Wink, in fact if you were the original gameboy palette designer, I would have asked an autograph, kissed your feet in devotion, and sent you all my optician's bills !
