You might want to look more into details on each than just a few pros, cons, and games made with them. Possibly start tutorials with all of the mentioned choices later, starting with Game maker to C++ and so on, putting the most used in higher priorities.

Keep in mind that we will not focus on pure technological side of games production but on those aspects that many young devs seem to forget and not even think about. From the 1st article It's not like choosing a tool is the most important thing in game development. You can make good games with each of these tools I described a little. You should just choose the tool you like at most at the first sight and master it so it'll be faster and easier to create games. When you learn one of them it'll be also easier to learn others. Also there is a lot of tutorials for each of them in web, it's not hard to find them.

Interesting read. You have some really good guidelines, especially the last article there. I'll make sure keep my eye on this.

Very good articles. Maybe I'll finally finish some game Btw, I'd suggest using Git or Mercurial over SVN as the cooperation on coding is then much easier and faster - easy branching/merging etc. There's also a lot of free repository hosting sites like GitHub which are very friendly to newbies.

Great articles you got there. Do you guys think it is worth learning Construct if it's going to be out-dated?

Hmm, I don't think it's worth cause it's still unstable and it won't be fixed. I'd suggest GameMaker or Stencyl if your interested in developing on Flash/iPhone(in future)

I don't really like Stencyl, so I will spend more time working with GM.

Nice series of articles.
I'd like to see some more tips on getting ideas. That seems to be one of my struggles at the moment.
