Spelunky got rave reviews on Good Game last night -- an Australia wide tv show about gaming. Congrats!

I don't have an xbox but god damn this game makes me want one.

I'll be keeping an eye out for a potential PC release Beer!

finally got the shortcut to the ice caves, and unlocked two characters. I was actually wondering about why you designed the bear hat character the way you did, with his cyan hat, magenta jacket, and yellow pants, I know it's a printer colour thing but i'm more curious about what he might be based on.

Honestly I don't think the Temple shortcut is all that useful. Temple is hard enough when you've gone through every level before it collecting items. Starting off with nothing makes it that much harder and is not even that useful for practicing, IMO.

In the original, I found that as soon as I got all the shortcuts I was at the level where they ceased to be of any use.

Seems to be going that way this time as well... except that I haven't gotten to the temple yet. Haven't played tons and had some really bad luck with door spawns in Ice.

However, I have noticed the compass in a lot more shops early on, which has proven very useful, probably because you see less of the level at any given time than you did in the original.

Also: this game has gotten my friends who hate platformers addicted. So kudos Derek for broadening some horizons with your die'em'up

I find the shortcuts are quite nice for when I'm just bored and fancy a quick mess around, especially in places like the mothership or haunted castle. I wish there was a hell shortcut though. I'd quite like to play around in there without having to spend an hour failing to reach it in a normal run.

BUG REPORT:

Nortrodamas and I were playing co-op locally, where I died (squished by a boss spider) AFTER he entered the exit. The game locked up on the loading screen.

I wonder if this game will ever need to be patched and Derek will have to shell out $40k to Microsoft to get it done.

I hope not! It's likely most bugs or glitches will be unexpected results of multiplayer, like above, and a good 6 months of debug should be fine for a patch. It's a minor reset, it's not like a bug that keeps the game from being fun, or that people would experience regularly.
