Well to put it simply I came on here to try and produce some sort of Field hockey Game. I had no real idea what to use but I think I have decided to use Unity3D.

I've played around with some models and I've made a little progress.

I've looked at (as a result of your post) do you need to have a mac to use it? I know its a probably a ridiculous question but I couldn't really tell...

It depends on which version you plan to use.
AFAIK, http://www.cocos2d-iphone.org/ - is for the iphone and needs a mac.
http://www.cocos2d-x.org/ - is cross platform and works from a mac and other platforms too.

Well I've been playing around with Unity3D and I've got a pitch and a stadium (Olympic 2012 hockey stadium to be precise).

http://blog.fieldhockeygame.co.uk/importing-the-model-into-unity3d/

What should I try to do next? Should I focus on finer details of the environment like the lightbox, floodlight lighting so its polished or should I try to get a core of the game done before adding improvements at that point.

The perfectionist in me wants to do the first option but the child on me wants to hit a ball in the goal yesterday Cheesy

Does anyone know of any good lighting tutorials for lighting on this sort of scale?
