Alien Invasion is a defense shooter inspired by Missile Command and Galaga

The game can be played with one button. Instructions will popup while playing.

  • 30 levels with medals (blue, bronze, silver, gold)
  • 3 additional unlock-able survival levels with top scores
  • 35 enemy variations
  • 7 unique weapons and corresponding power ups
  • 24 achievements
  • unlockable credits

Ok here is the deal! If anybody got the time and skills to get trough all 30 levels, please let me know with a screenshot or a video and you will be added to the credits of the game. Any feedback is highly appreciated! Thanks Smiley

Version on FGL: (You need an account to play it)

Just uploaded a version with some improvements

- Autofire is now triggered when button is held down
- Weapon selection menu is now triggered with "Space" key
- New Weapon (homing missiles) and new enemies are now available in level 3
- Acceleration of enemies out of control reduced, they are easier to hit now
- Increased missile speed and normal shot speed as well as firing rate

The trailer video could do with a lot of cutting - while it is nice to see realistic gameplay, for a first impression you'll want to show a lot of stuff quickly to keep people interested. Also, the shot sound effects could do with a bit of variety, as hearing the exact same effect over and over again gets a bit irritating.

Thanks a lot for your feedback DarthBenedict, you are right about the trailer. It definitely needs cutting, which I will do ASAP. I just wanted to get the game out of the door, so people can try it Wink.

I have planned for various shooting sound effects for the different weapons. This will be changed soon as well.

Thats good, but what I meant was having 3-4 slightly different sound effects for each gun and randomly selecting one each shot. Open up audacity and slightly bass boost one, speed up another etc.

This is really fun - good luck finding a sponsor!

A few minor grumbles:

* Given the nature of the gameplay, info dialogs which pop up should have a minimum time on screen (say 1/2 second) and ignore (not remember) any clicks during that time. The current implementation caused me to miss several dialogs because I happened to click something as they appeared.
* When you first encounter powerups, some explanation of how to collect them would be good. (Or did I click through that?).
* You might want to consider biassing bullet fire directions away from the edges of the screen. Because Flash can't track the mouse outside its boundaries it's awkward and annoying trying to pick off bullets aimed by low altitude aliens into the corners of the screen. I keep accidentally pausing the game, as well as missing the majority of them, neither of which is fun!

But these are details, the game's already good. Nice work!  TigerHand Thumbs Up Right
