Okay guys, not reading this thread again until I get / beat the game in the next couple weeks. Too much spoiler risk.
See you in two to three weeks!

man the contest minigame in the beginning sure was scripted. you can't actually lose. i know this because i had to do some university work and accidentally left the the game running for like an hour. it's pulling the same handholding "illusion of agency" crap so many modern "cinematic" games pull.

Yes, I was annoyed with that too, but you could have put that as a potential spoiler alert for those who don't have the game yet let them find out for themselves...

ok nvm what i said about the combat. It's quite good
also i can't help it, i dislike the storytelling in this game so far. there are cutscenes interrupting the gameplay every 5 minutes. plot is super predictable if you've ever played a jrpg so far and characters aren't very deep. basically the story isn't good enough for the game to push it this hard.

Im enjoying it but Ill agree on the cutscenes so far. My friend is way ahead of me (7-8 hours) and he said it calms down. Hope he's right.
As for characters being deep.. I dunno, I think with the facial animations Ive seen quite a lot of emotions so far for a Zelda game. One thing I really like are Link's facial animations.

If you read hylian zelda's father's books rfead "theology" By the way the story in itself isn't interesting outside timeline theory, and there was never depth in zelda's story but great care with theme since oot. Character aren't deep, but a bunch of them are super expressive and well done (zelda and girahim mostly, other are regular zelda goofy since majora, not bad but an entire new class of appreciation)
On music, Kondo did only one music to let the new sound team express themselves, that's the team who come up with the reverse lullaby theme. Sure they are not as mature as kondo since people say music is the weakness of the game (aside from the awesome main theme, which is one of the best zelda theme since the original).

Those dolphin HD image actually show BRUSH STROKE I wonder how they did this shader, the wii is not too strong to analyze an image, and that's an insane amount of data to match 3D point They didn't go half way about painterly look, it's reallly painted I'm willing to pay anyone who can replicate this 3D shader

It's certainly not as bad but still, pretty wide there. Back on topic, I am getting the game this weekend. I am really really looking forward to it! I have a question though... is the combat waggle or is it real, as advertised?

I use to put the width mark to make it fit the column, but here the small details are important and would get lost, That's why I left the "wide" image. It's full of subtle computer generated brush strokes made in a way I had never seen and is very convincing. And it's done on a weak machine who don't have the processing power to do full screen analysis.
So i'm showing the tricks in case someone has an answer (but yep it should be in technical forums)...

Wow those look amazing. Does the game actually look like that running on the Wii? That looks so good. I really like the mountains in the back of the first image.

From the videos I can spot on Youtube, it's more or less like that, but without the crisp edges on the models- rather disappointing, really, but I'm thinking it'll still look nice. I know it's cliche, but part of me hopes that the Wii U will upscale Wii games to look at least something like what running it on the Dolphin emulator looks like.
