Treant Protector, Bane and Phoenix Aghanim changes make me very happy. Especially Treant's old dota1 ability being back (and much improved).

Riki's change feels good, he was sort of underwhelming in competitive play. New PL is also really nice and doesn't seem as boring as before, though I'm going to miss dopplewalk, that was one of the nicest escapes in the game imho (not counting blink).

the new update was pretty random

random? without warning?

stale memepush/deathball meta for months
same heroes picked in every competitive game for months
same strategies ran in every competitive game for months
void, tinker, panda pub cancer for months
constant tweaks to roshan to try to offset dire advantage for the entire life of the game  (see: years)
multiple heroes never picked in competitive reworked to have a place
rebalanced runes to nerf bottle crowing (again), ensure that mid doesn't instantly lose their lane if they miss a couple of runes, and globally buff supports
changed map to help supports gank/nerf radiant lanes (both were safe as hell)

none of this was unexpected save for the map changes and only because the map rarely ever changes. (map change includes rune stuff).

the only part of this patch that doesnt make sense to me is why take BS out of captains mode when you finally give him the tools to be useful

also its not like a major patch comes out after every TI or anything

It's just to give him some quality time in pubs first before being unleashed on competitive, it's done with all major reworks. Arguably the Riki changes are big enough that he should be taken out, too (imo), but oh well.

eh the riki changes came with some substantial nerfs to his base damage (which is ridiculous imo) and the 8 second fade time means taking invis at level 1 would make him an actual trash can.

but... maybe the base damage nerf is okay because of the diffusal buff

After reading the changelog I was really glad, all the changes sounded good, I didn't really pay much attention to the kill gold changes tho.

Then I get in game to find that the kill gold change has spoiled the whole game... Sad

I wish they could just quick revert back to the old kill-gold formula so I can play dota again

they immediately nerfed it. idk if its still broken though i havent played much of the new patch.
