Trying to make it more contrast and readable again:

So, is that better?

Thought someone would have posted here by now.

While it is better, I think the background buildings (the purple one behind the crates) needs to be a bit darker to make the crates stand out. Ah, the right one is the improved version? It looks better, I think. The buildings furthest back should fade into the skyline a bit, like the ones the furthest back, I think. Anyway, great graphics so far!

which one is which?  left one is burning a hole in my eye, the right one is nicer on them.  Your stuff is nice, by the how.  lighten/lose detail in the buildings in the background as they recede to differentiate between the planes if that is a concern.  If the tiles are a WIP you're probably going to add more details in the foreground, so this will be less of an issue.

No)) right one is old version =) Ok, thank you for feedback :3

I like the brevity of the foreground and do not want to saturate its by details.

You can try to check design document of game. It is in Russian, but well illustrated. Maybe it will help you understand.

I personally like the darker pallet compared to the lighter one. has a lot for atmosphere. Maybe a happy middle of the two would be good? Or maybe, rather than trying to make the contrast in colors go in a brighter direction, make the darks darker? With it so bright it feels like the mystery and heaviness is gone.

I like the grays a lot more than the browns.

That's what I'm afraid of.
Probably i can keep a bright variant for some special moments in game. For solved puzzles maybe.
