You don't need money to exercise. Just try running or situps or even something like jumproping. Lift heavy books. Go for a bike ride.
I don't have the slightest problem exercising. I would say I'm a pretty fit guy. I want to have super awesome abs, tho, and I don't think I have the discipline and even knowledge to get that without dedicating time and money to going to a gym.

I've got literally no fat or muscle on my arms, so I've been trying to do a little bit to toughen them up. I mostly just do a few push-ups a day. However, I've been trying to figure out ways to more 'properly' exercise... this could be pretty useful!

You can do it without a gym membership. Gym equipment speeds things along by allowing for higher resistance but you can get great workouts without equipment. Also I would caution against just going for "awesome abs" or things like that. The abs are important but so is every other muscle group in your body. I would recommend that whenever you train a muscle group, make sure to train its counteracting muscle group(s) as well.

yep, did so with the suggestions button, hopefully they add it. till then i just classified it as jump rope (which is a similar motion, although the trampoline is less stressful on the joints, but also requires less coordination/attention)
also: i worry that the points system would encourage people to overexercise. there's a point at which you can exercise too much, but the system seems to reward points based on how much exercise is done, which feels a bit too simplistic

Yeah definitely. I ran more than I usually do yesterday, and now I'm very tempted to try a marathon length run tomorrow, just for the quests. I don't want in general to exercise this much, but a brief lapse into obsession is unlikely to do any actual harm. Would be better if it recognised consistency and long-term habits a bit more than it currently does.

Yeah I find their tagline "get addicted to your fitness" a bit disturbing tbh. My dad is one of those "fitness addicts." He's now in his 60s and has numerous problem w/ various bones amd joints.

An important 2008 study, this one from Stanford University, followed middle-aged, longtime distance runners (not necessarily marathoners) for nearly 20 years, beginning in 1984, when most were in their 50s or 60s. At that time, 6.7 percent of the runners had creaky, mildly arthritic knees, while none of an age-matched control group did. After 20 years, however, the runners’ knees were healthier; only 20 percent showed arthritic changes, versus 32 percent of the control group’s knees. Barely 2 percent of the runners’ knees were severely arthritic, while almost 10 percent of the control group’s were.

it also depends on how you run. we were made to run barefoot, not with shoes; people who run barefoot have none of the problems associated with running
