I know, you just can't be a fan of Diablo after playing Planescape Torment I actually have played both (add to the mix the awesome Arcanum and the godlike Fallout), and that hasn't stopped me from replayeing either. I just keep the mind open to the fact that their goals were significantly different on each.

Indeed, I'm an enourmous Torment fan, and a big Diablo fan. They aren't the same type of game. They have two completely different focuses.
And the combat in Torment blew. As did the story and plot in Diablo.

I actually liked the plot and the setting on Diablo 1. It was about a man/woman on the path of his/her damnation. He really had no choice whatsoever. How could s/he expect to fully defeat the Lord of Terror him/herself?
Then Diablo 2 showed us that the hero(ine) from diablo 1 was just a weak dumb fuckwad. Everyone and their mothers can manage to defeat the legions of hell on tehir own.

Looks like a non-Mediterranean Titan Quest.
The circle is complete.

I dont know why they are bothering to release this now, I would think that it would be better marketing to keep all they hype on star craft 2.

I really don't think they'll have a big problem due to this.

YES! This is great. I love Diablo. Ghost seemed like it was going to be innovative, but they abandoned it. I always felt Ghost looked like a pretty mediocre Metal Gear Solid-style affair. What seemed innovative to you about it? I'd be totally excited for a new Rock n' Roll Racing game, though!!! I remember reading some brief previews for Heavy Metal Racing back in they day... I wonder what happened to that. "Olaf's in another timezone!"

I was hoping it was going to be a new rock & roll racing. Loved that game, though I prefered Tarquinn I don't know why, but the gameplay video reminds me more of the recent Gauntlet games than Diablo/Diablo 2. I dont know why they are bothering to release this now, I would think that it would be better marketing to keep all they hype on star craft 2. Different markets & settings. They aren't directly competing with each other like Diablo 3 would be if it was a RTS. Starcraft 2 doesn't need any more hype yet than it already has

Finally Finally Finally! I heard a crazy rumor that you get to play as an angel (like Tyreal) in this game! That doesn't seem to be supported by the videos, but it would have been cool!
I cannot f@#king wait!
It looks gorgeous. I hope that they expand the gameplay a bit though. Maybe improved online play.

It seemed different from MGS in a few ways -- the abilities of the character were more acrobatic, with huge leaps and anime-like dexterity, whereas in MGS snake is less mobile and slower. There was also a lot of vehicle use -- you could pilot a seige tank or those hoverbike things. The idea of a cloaking device which only lasted a short time seems like it'd play very differently from just trying to remain out of sight at all times, so they'd both be stealth, but different feelings of stealth, I imagine Ghost is more frantic and fast-paced stealth, whereas MGS was more strategic and slower-paced stealth.

- a 2D-controlled, 3D-looking, simple roguelike.
Diablo is not a roguelike, it is a dungeon crawler or an action rpg but yeah - NO internet activation, NO costs per month
that would be ridiculous compared with WoW, also, all the games on pc that aren't mmos are free to play so it's sure i bet the multi will be nice, the single player just meh

From the FAQ: "When will Diablo III be released? It's too early to estimate Diablo III's release date. As with all Blizzard Entertainment games, our goal is to create a game that is as fun, balanced, and polished as possible. We intend to take as much time developing Diablo III as is necessary to ensure the game meets our own high expectations and those of our players."
Let's all start praying for 2009. Don't get me wrong, from the looks of those videos, it seems like a normal publisher would release in 2008, but with Blizzard, let's just pray for 2009!
