I think what you're trying to get at is that all of the classes are sort of just "hit buttons to kill guys" and there's not much variance in that, and different builds just change how you kill guys.

Yes. And that killing guys isn't fun because I don't really have to try or think or even use just a liiittttle bit of problem solving because it's all so terribly similar.

if you don't like killing enemies in a variety of ways then why are you playing an ARPG
that's like saying "i don't like first person shooters. there's too much shooting."
edit: also if you are saying that you "don't have to think to kill guys" you haven't played nightmare and above because once you start reaching elites with 2+ abilities you start to actually get tested.

Fans of Diablo 1 and 2 say D3 is a soulless flashy piece of garbage, made for the casual teenager crowd.
It's got issues alright. But it's definitely not a shit game. Stop being such a snob and enjoy yourself for once in a while. I played the second Diablo, and though there are differences present, I still think it's a great fun game

I think if you have to replay a game on hard intially locked difficulties to be challenged that is a problem maybe

I think if you have to replay a game on hard intially locked difficulties to be challenged that is a problem maybe yeah normal is too easy however you can't really reach max level by playing normal alone so it's pretty obvious that you are supposed to play through the difficulties in order (normal, nightmare, hell, inferno). so if you think you are replaying the game you are sorta wrong. it's more like one long game that has cycling environments

so if you think you are replaying the game you are sorta wrong. it's more like one long game that has cycling environments Does it force you to do all the story stuff again, exactly the same as it was the first cycle, or do you get to choose which quest/whatever you can go to like the beta had? Or does Nightmare+ ignore the story entirely and let you just mash your way through everything? If you have to do the story stuff again it's playing through the game multiple times. If it drops the story stuff and you just run through the same environments then yea, cool, I can accept that. The major problem I guess would be having to do the dumb stuff like "kill this man's wife that he has locked in the basement' and 'go to adria's old shack to unlock the next gate' or whatever I was doing in the beta. edit: I can't even remember if killing the dude's zombie wife was a side quest or not, but if it's a thing you got to do 4 times?? screw that

Every new difficulty is just NewGame+. It's not that odd of a concept.

You have to do all that stuff over again, but honestly it's not that big of a deal? Especially that particular quest which is like... 2 seconds long.
My least favorite quest line is easily the Zoltun Kulle line, simply because it takes FOR EV ER. However, immediately afterward is the Belial fight, which is my favorite fight in the whole game, so.

Every new difficulty is just NewGame+. It's not that odd of a concept.
Well, if the game was designed so that NewGame+ was the *actual* game, I could see them taking steps to make the process as painless as possible. I wouldn't play through all of Chrono Trigger 3x to play the "real" Chrono Trigger, for example. Too much going around in all kinds of goofy paths for the storyline. I guess the real question is how intrusive is the story? If it prevents you from progressing constantly so you can diddle off and rescue Deckard Cain instead get to Tombs level 4 or whatever, that would be pretty annoying to me on the 2nd or 3rd time through. You have to do all that stuff over again, but honestly it's not that big of a deal? Especially that particular quest which is like... 2 seconds long. It's not only about that particular quest. If there are many quests like it, it adds up to a bunch of stupid stuff that would sorta detract from the mindless diversion experience. I'm still on the fence about getting this. I guess a lot of people seem to be going into as a mindless diversion thing, so I could go into it with that mindset and probably enjoy myself. But if the storyline is too intrusive and keeps popping up, reminding you it's not a mindless diversion and it expects to be treated like a real game!!! then there is an issue. I'm just trying to click monsters, man, I don't care about Deckard Cain's daughter. I don't wanna leave this dungeon so I can go save her and get the key to the next floor, just give me the dang key here!

The kind of stuff you can find in the auction house is really crazy. I put a perfect gem into a low-level weapon and suddenly my DPS is twice what it was before. The gems can be unsocketed for free too. It almost feels like cheating.

Hey guys, blizzard made boss loot worse than rare spawns to promote exploring... which is why i've spent a week running Warden > Butcher on act I in 20mins.
Fuckers need to realise that the game design isn't what you say it is, its what the game dictates it as... whats important and not is revealed by the mechanics, argh. I should just uninstall and make something of my own.

I'm enjoying hardcore mode quite a bit so far. It encourages careful play, and that makes it feel more strategic and interesting. In softcore mode you can usually just keep throwing yourself at a problem until you are successful.
However, I'll still have a softcore character. The idea is that I'll use this character to try out enemy attack patterns and try quests before doing them with my hardcore character. That way, I'll know exactly what I'm up against.
