but that's what i said  Huh?

they probably made it look more warcrafty to appease wow players or sth

That or they just had their inactive WoW artists / programmers work on it.

I'm pretty sure that no lead artists/programmers/designers are left there that worked on DI or DII. And it shows.

Played for like 10 minutes. Looks like a Diablo, alright. For so much I've heard about it (both positive and negative), it didn't look that different from Torchlight or Diablo 2. I don't fully get the new skill system yet, though. Have they removed putting points in skills and you only unlock new skills at certain levels?

Also, I'm impressed that it worked relatively well on my laptop. That thing doesn't even have a dedicated video card.

You get given new skills/skillrunes 1 at a time over the course of the game (normal/nightmare/hell), you can switch between any skill whenever you want. You don't invest points in anything at all anymore, the way you customize your character is mainly just through random item drops now.

Interesting approach. On one hand it means that you can't fuck up your character anymore, but I think I'm gonna miss putting points into skills at level ups. It felt very satisfying in that grindy, gamey way.

I think I prefer it when you can spend point normally, but re-specing is cheap and easily available. Like in Borderlands or Guild Wars.

One of the last dII patches let you re-spec your character once and only once every diff. level. If you wanted more re-specs you started gathering special items and combine them.

I vehemently hate their new system in dIII. What a great way to make every character more boring. Oh well.

So. Played this.

There's a sound bug on Mac at the moment where the game is completely silent I'm experiencing. Not off to a great start.

No character customisation at all. If there's a way to modify equipment, then perhaps this might change but at the moment I see zero replay value of the opening bit of play. Turning skills on and off isn't customisation, it's just changing skills. You already had them, you're committed to nothing.

The UI has been pretty good, but locking skills to primary and secondary is really annoying. I can't come up with interesting combinations. It's like a restaurant that won't let you order a side-dish on it's own. No, you have to have a fucking main course for some reason.

Depressingly linear. Like, Dungeon Hunter linear.

The Cathedral started to make things interesting because I was beginning to get lost and actually take damage (though the damage seemed to vanish after the fight somehow). Then I had a full inventory and it wouldn't let me return to town. That really pissed me off.

It feels really fucked up saying this, but I had more fun on the first few levels of Torchlight than this beta of Diablo 3.

Is it possible to make town portals in this game? I too ran into the problem of finding way too many items in the Cathedral for my limited inventory space. In the earlier Diablo games, I would gather and sell stuff like a madman for a bit of extra gold, but having to run back to town here seems a bit tiresome.

On average, it takes me about 25 login attempts to get into the game, and I can play for about an hour before being disconnected from the server. I managed to try the Witch Doctor and Wizard classes a little bit during that time. I like spellcasters but I feel like the number of spells at my disposal is pretty limited at this point. I also wish it was possible to increase the difficulty of the game somehow. Even a simple adjustment like making the monsters have more health and damage would do wonders for me.

Googling it, it seems they intentionally lock you in the Cathedral and won't give you town portal until much later. It's a really stupid move to be honest. I really fancied just having a break and go back to town and now it's locked me in. Apparently you can drop the white items because they're worthless.

This game just isn't happy letting you do your own thing.

Wth, I made like 3 town portals in the cathedral, one by accdient, two deliberae. Just press t.

Also you dont use scrolls, its just a channeled ability.

Coop feels fine, but the story doesnt take much into consideration morethan one player. Cain says that her niece and her friend (not friends) saved him, and shit lik that. But despite being quite linear it still felt good, specially wizard skills.

I haven't unlocked it yet, so I'm stuck with a full backpack. I just find it unnecessary to be locked in.

The complete lack of sound is definitely ruining it. Can't log in at the moment anyway.

enemies drop health orbs, that's why you were getting health out of nowhere. the game sucks. most disappointing game of the past few years, by far.

The dialogue, at least for the female Wizard, is awful. It's like they didn't even try to make it mesh with what the NPC's are saying

Also, I love how I'm playing a single player game, but still face severe lag issues. That was definitely my favorite part.

Not a bad game, but definitely a poor Diablo game. I'm enjoying it, but only when i disconnect the game from its legacy. Torchlight and Titan Quest look better all the time.
