It's a bit scary how many entries there are in the "Recent Bath & Shower Scenes" section, but I can't say it's at all surprising.

haruhi was one of my favorite series for a long time
the original airing was ingenious as the episodes were aired at random order but still made sense
plus the movie is amazing
Yes, so much yes

I watched Haruhi after its original airing so with all the hype, and in my opinion it didn't live up to the hype. It was a very good series, but not a masterpiece or anything like that.
The movie, on the other hand, is a fucking masterpiece and people should watch the series just so they can watch the movie.

Very good? All I see is club shit and fan service with pretty art and a small shitty undeveloped plot that revolves around Haruhi.
The characters feel incredibly boring and cliche, other than Kyon, he is kind of funny. It has nice art, I guess.
I can see this getting a 6/10, but the way people talk about it I expected a masterpiece. Hopefully the movie lives up to what people say.
I regret buying the DVDs :/

The movie was pretty long, that's all I have to say. It wasn't bad but Haruhi isn't something I'd care to watch again. I'm not sure why so many people think it's so great, it seems pretty average and ordinary to me other than the order they aired the episodes in.
Edit: But Nichijou (also by KyoAni), on the other hand, is a masterpiece. It's a downright shame it didn't sell well.

Just visited that page. On that page is a link: "Bathing Scene Timelines". This breaks down anime bathing scenes by year. That's right. Somebody had the time and inclination to do a breakdown of anime bathing scenes by year. I want to meet the person (or people) who did this. I want to be able to talk with them, and have an in-depth, sophisticated, and intellectual stimulating conversation about the best years and recent trends in anime bathing scenes. Just so that I can say that I have.

I was once reading a list (I don't know why) and I found it odd that a certain thing was being noted each time: someone's shoes breaking open. At first I was like, "huh, that's peculiar..."
Then I realized I was reading about someone's fetish.
That tab was closed faster than I could blink.

there were many factors that made haruhi popular. at the time it was made by kyoani and it really stood out. people really loved the opening/ending dance stuff, mikuru popularized THE MOE PHENOMENOM, etc. it was a pretty quirky anime, too, you can't deny that. i think it got really popular because it was its own thing and it stood out a lot. plus there was the whole "haruhiism" thing that was like a thing inside the anime, too (haruhi being god etc) ps: nichijou is the best anime ever period

Then I realized I was reading about someone's fetish.
Awkward... :D I think for any given topic, or any reasonable combination of topics, there is someone out there that is so passionate about it that they could break it down into infinite detail, and there is someone else out there who has a fetish of some kind revolving around it. And they are sometimes the same person. I suspect that for every X obsession, there is probably an anime plus X obsession of some sort as well. Which leads us back to anime bath scenes.

First time posting in this thread (I think), but I've been lurking since, well, forever.
I ended up watching Darker than Black recently based on some older posts in the thread. Quite enjoyed the first series. Was not a fan of the second series. I got the feeling with the second series they were possibly aiming for a different audience?
VDZ: Loved your post. It took me a few panels to catch on, but I was laughing my ass off by the end.
I'm quite a big fan of Excel Saga myself. Yes, it's a bit old now, but I only really ran into it myself recently. I don't see it mentioned a lot in general. If Garthy has not seen Puni Puni Poemy, then Garthy must rather soon. Anime Expo 2012 really turned me on to Panty and Stocking featuring Garterbelt, probably my favorite semi-new show of the year. It also introduced me to Fate: Zero and Sengoku Basara: Samurai Kings, which both felt pretty lackluster and suffered bad from DBZ season 5 syndrome. Both were all about the battles, and the battles were like: Talk talk talk battle talk talk battle talk talk talk talk battle talk talk battle battle talk talk talk talk battle talk talk. Can't you be like a 20th century anime, where you talk and battle at the same time, ffs? But then, the latter title *is* Capcom we're talking about here, and they're always gonna be notorious for making better gameplay than plotlines. And that's fine by me... I mean, look at Morrigan or Cammy, for instance. Would you rather be playing with that, or sitting around and listening to her talk for two hours? THANK YOU FOR PLAYING. And ffs, how could the Expo have NOTHING on Redline?! Nothing at all?!

Cheers baconman. That's an extremely good suggestion for an Excel Saga fan IMHO. Yep, I've seen it, more than a few times too. It was pretty-much inevitable given the references to it in Excel Saga. Cheers also for the detailed PM you sent as well. But don't worry, I'm already convinced. A few of my favourite quotes: - "Wait Poemi. You can play this much bigger!" - "Look at how wet you are. You could catch a terrible cold like that. Perhaps you should take off your fuku and let Futaba rub her hot body against... oh that was quick." - "Always falling safely is a great power." - "Oh wow, look at the fan service!" - "You... burned... my... ass!"
