i wasnt the one who posted it
still a great vn though
oh, I somehow reed namragog's comment as yours. Sorry namragog! (I'm just replying now because I noticed that people were commenting about KS and I didn't want to get spoilers until I finished the game :<) But yeah, it was a pretty good game. I've chosen Lily's path in the end. It was interesting, although the final was kinda disappointing. Not for being bittersweet, but it seems, lacking. I've finished it about five minutes ago, though, so maybe it will grow into me.I've only played hanako, and that's all I really need. I loved that one. So sad though ;A;

Uh...generally a VN isnt' considered 'finished' until you've read all of the routes rather than just one of them. This is because the routes are not just alternate endings but rather complete stories. Katawa Shoujo is one of the VNs which does not have a 'bigger picture' that requires multiple routes to be played in order to read a 'true route' or similar, but often VNs require you to read everything in order to fully understand the story. For example, in Ever17, the four character routes build up a mystery and unlock a final 'true' route which answers the mystery; Fate/stay night consists of three routes that are practically separate stories but build on the knowledge from the previous routes until after the final route you understand what the Holy Grail War is all about; and Clannad has 'After Story', a major part of the game that is unlocked only after finishing all character routes.
Basically, reading only a single route in a VN is like reading a couple of chapters in a book and saying you've read the book.
Just saying.

The problem with all of that is that it requires reading a VN

I feel like each path is a short story, and I read it that way. The first path I do is the only true one to me, and I don't really want to spend time reading things I don't care about. The Hanako path in Katawa Shoujo had every little scene fit perfectly together, and I don't want to experience the other paths, because that's not the fun way.

@VDZ I dunno. I feel that replaying the game will cheapen my experience somehow. It's hard to explain, but in KS I did my decisions based on knowing that "I should do that" or "I shouldn't do this", instead of "If I want to see X's path or Y's path so I need to do this", which will happen if I replay the game. Playing the game once and once only gives a lot more weight to my actions since once they done, they are done, and replaying the game nullifies that. Playing the game various times to read the other stories would be like reading a book with graphics imo, like you said. But I don't want to make KS a book. If you prefer to get the whole picture, then good. It's just isn't for me.

That's quite interesting. Now I'm wondering whether the big difference between Western interactive fiction vs Japanese interactive fiction (Western places focus on interactivity, allowing the player to express himself, while Japanese focuses more on the story, using the interactivity merely as a device to switch between parts of the story) is the cause or the result of that mindset.

I did not at all enjoy Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt, but I understand why some would like it and do not feel the need to assert there is anything wrong with the taste of people who do like the show.

i thought panty and stocking was really good. it was funny, the animation was great, and it was kind of interesting to see a show where sexuality is such a major theme in an art style that lent itself so poorly to sexualization. aside from the transformation sequence obviously. the english dub looks pretty solid too.
