hm, personally i found the first season of gitssac a lot more compelling than the second one, even with the standalone episodes littered throughout it. to each his own i guess
Character development, enough said

ehhhhh, i guess i just prefer the amount of mystery season 1 had with the laughing man, whereas season 2 was more political drama. also the standalone episodes definitely gave season 1 a bit more elbow room and left the main plot some time to breathe. im not saying season 2 is bad, i just preferred those aspects of season 1.

The last episode of Chuunibyou was so great...I almost cried. And we have saw the Dark Flame Master's "True Power". I like that part.

It was an enjoyable series but not something timeless. I find subtle things to tug at my heartstrings better than that heavy handed approach.

the lack of a kissu enrages me to no end. how can you have a romance anime have a good end with no kissu? In other news, it looks like watamote is going to get an anime \o/ For those unfamiliar, this is the manga it's based off of.

From what I understand the FLCL manga is one of those rare occasions where it was an anime first.
Original anime aren't THAT rare. Manga and LN adaptations are way more common, and VN and novel adaptations are also more common, but there's often at least one original anime per season. For example, this season we have K, Psycho-Pass and Girls und Panzer as original anime (K had a manga that was released earlier, but that was a prequel for the anime), and last season we had continuations of original anime Dog Days and Rinne no Lagrange, and so on. They're outnumbered by non-original anime, but you can't really call them rare. I didn't mean it in an originality sense, I just meant it's way more common for a manga to be made into an anime than the other way round. Not really, pretty much any anime gets a manga nowadays. Like I mentioned before, K got a prequel manga, and now it also has another manga. Psycho-Pass got a manga a month after the anime started. Girls und Panzer got 2 manga and a novel based on the anime. Even non-original anime (like Ixion Saga DT this season, based on a game) get manga adaptations if they don't have any yet.

If you need something to cheer you up after Punpun then read Yotsubato! http://mangafox.me/manga/yotsubato/Angel beats is rushed and bad, dont waste your time with it and find something actually good... like Honey and Clover
