yeah but we're talking about the social sciences, where 'rule' is more equivalent to 'trend' or 'tend' or 'statistical average'
in other words, if you can find an exception which defies some statistical average, the very fact that that exception is such a rarity and you had to look so hard to find it shows that its attributes are rare
example: larry bird proves that white people can't jump (on average)

there was a highlander sequel from whomever made ninja scroll a couple years back, I remember it kind of sucking but it seems like a nexus of 80s/90s that you might like to suckle upon

madhouse is the studio's name i believe. that's where phubans got the name for his first game maker game, as an aside. they are also responsible for death note, the vampire hunter d sequel, trigun, and a bunch of other stuff

man, redline was cool, but i feel like this otherworldly, wonderful animation could have been used towards a much better narrative
maybe i'm feeling like it's a bit of wasted potential, you know?

Actually, Madhouse Studio wasn't where I got the name for Madhouse, unless it was subconsciously. Madhouse was more influenced by Splatterhouse, and I thought the name sounded cool because I've heard the term "It's a Madhouse!" (usually referring to stores that are busy on days like Black Friday, but the etymology based in insane asylums, which is what Madhouse the game was trying to evoke) EDIT: I just looked at this list of anime created by Studio Madhouse and was blown away: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Madhouse_%28company%29#WorksI can't believe they're responsible for all of that... So many titles on here are my favorites. So basically, any anime that wasn't created by Studio Ghibli is probably a creation of Studio Madhouse. Impressive.

watched a marathon of welcome to the nhk. made me tear up at some points. I like that the main character constantly moved between high points and low points he wasn't a hero and more of a fuck up. Then I felt terrible for watching a marathon of it straight, and how I could afford to because I live with my mother, and the state of my room and then I felt like a hikikomori myself on valentines day.

I kind of liked the style, but not the actual plot, because it clerly indicates me the authors have no idea about machinery efficiency. The Matrix plot already stopped making sense when humans could generate energy in a closed system. Ha. Yeah. That's what made the movie great!

KamiChu is such an adorable show, and yet I can't help but feel there's supposed to be some deeper level of commentary on the modernization of Japanese culture and the abandonment of its cultural heritage... Might just be me, though.

Link me! @.@ I would probably of saved me a few days of my life if this thread hadn't started nichijou tatami galaxy gurren lagann welcome to the nhk (google) (all good) and kamichu reminds me a bit of miyazaki's work so I'll probably waste a few more days watching that. ITS TRUE I AM A LOSER

Kamichu! is great. Such a strange, unique series that could only possibly come from Japan (and not in the fuck-my-brain way that normally implies).

Episode 2 of "Welcome to the NHK" should be mandatory viewing for this entire forum. XD
Still headbutting my way through programming consistencies.

Apparently Redline took over SEVEN years to make, and is composed of over 100,000 frames.
Whoa.
Mad respect for Madhouse.
