Yes indeed. After reading all seven books of it, I can say the Nausicaa manga is one of the greatest examples of japanese literature I've ever read.
Also, has anyone else here read Medaka Box? I've just reached chapter 140, and let me tell you, I'd never seen a manga do such an intelligent satire. It's good by being bad on purpose, in a way that vaguely reminds me of the self-deprecating humor of Monty Python.

The Nausicaä comic is Miyazaki's best work to date and any fan of his should read it. related pictureSort of hoping Ghibli will go back and make a series based on it and show the full story.

<amazing gifs>
Mononoke Hime... my other favorite Ghibli film. I love how scenes of hyper-violence are balanced out by moments of complete serenity.
Thanks for this recommendation! Just watched Ninja Scrolls few days ago, *goes to watch Princess Mononoke right away*

I read it and am quite looking forward to the anime starting tomorrow. Nisio Isin's writing generally has a meta awareness and playfulness with tropes. He's one of the best writers of otaku genre fiction.

Big O has one of the weirder endings to a series I've seen
I liked it, though. Good show

I remember it but I never watched it because the giant robot looked idiotic.

Yeah, their mecha designs are slow, heavy, and lumbering. They end up destroying a ton of public property whenever shit goes down (to the chagrin of the military police head). Extremely unlike the sleek designs of EVA. But they have really cool interiors! The series in general has a pretty rad look. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AdA6iRk94Hc
