I just came back here to ask just this^
I did a torrent search on BakaBT (which usually has EVERYTHING anime-related) and it yielded nothing; at least not in terms of the new show.
So yeah, m'lady and I want to watch that. Other than that, we've been watching this:

Mermaid's Forest TV series. It's adapted from manga written by Rumiko Takahashi and spans 13 episodes from 2004. Surprisingly, it's really good. The art and animation isn't anything ground-breaking and doesn't really stand apart from everything else from that era, but the story and characters are amazing. It's horror/drama/romance, and despite having the violence, gore, and nudity toned down significantly from its OVA counterparts, it still manages to be quite eerie and riveting. It also manages to capture a certain pace and atmosphere that is somewhat reminiscent of the lower budget anime from the late 80s and early 90s that I love so much, even employing certain looks and effects that you don't usually see reproduced digitally.
Prior to this I watched Mermaid's Scar and Mermaid's Forest OVAs, the latter of which shouldn't be confused with the aforementioned TV series, but it should be noted that both OVAs are also included as stories in the TV series. Though like I said, these OVAs were from a much earlier time and since they weren't on TV they could get away with a lot more. First of all, the violence is almost a necessary plot device in this series; the story is focused around the journey of two immortals named Yuta and Mana, who are commonly killed violently and then come back to life. It almost felt awkward to have the violence censored and the mermaids drawn in ways that didn't reveal their boobs, but whatever. Altogether, I highly recommend this show, especially since you can watch the whole thing on YouTube (I actually downloaded it for the best quality; it's worth it).
