This.
That's like the only anime that kept me on the edge of my seat. Even though it starts kind of ridiculously.

I had problems sleeping after episode 12.
I had to go to bed directly after watching #12.

i guess start off with the original series, then the first movie, then the remakes (1.0, 2.0, and 3.0, which hasn't come out yet)

it's a good series i guess, but flawed

Part of me wants to say watch the new movies, but watching the original series and movie adds a lot to it. Just watch in the order of release I guess, like JS said.

Finished Season 1 of Darker than Black. Was enjoyable.

I dislike the way most of the female faces are drawn, though. Except maybe Yin.

EDIT: okay wtf, just started season 2 and is Hei seriously intent on killing off every single character i like

they introduce a character, give them 5 minutes of screentime, make it look like they're going to be important parts of the story and then

hei kills them

also why the fuck would they kill november 11

that guy owned

Finished Season 2 of Darker than Black. Dumbest ending ever. Also, Hei is a terrible human being.

Still, I liked a couple of the characters/character designs from the series:

November 11

One of the few likeable, non-comic-relief characters in the story. Smooth talker; nice white suit.

Mina Hazuki

Girl with a sword in a suit. Needed more screen time.

July

He had a really cool hat.

Anime by studio Bones are typically 90% amazing animation and 10% incoherent plot.

If you liked the anime, you should try the original visual novel, it's tons better.

It usually happens with anime adaptations of visual novels; you just lose a lot of depth when you have to turn 30+ hours of written and illustrated fiction with audio into 8 hours of anime.

If you don't want to read the same story again, there's also a fan translation of the more light-hearted Steins;Gate 8-BIT spin-off game. (Not in any way comparable to the original, of course, but still fun for S;G fans.)
