I like the character designs, they're interesting. I like that the costumes are not overdone and are very readable, especially during the action.

You'd have thought the "Nick HD" logo would have given that away...

(in case it wasn't clear, that comment was directed at phubans)
the writers of legend of korra have managed to weave a surprisingly intelligent story; the world of Republic City draws several parallels to various historical events, and indeed, the current state of the USA
police brutality, social inequality, the rise of industry, governmental hypocrisy, civil rights, racism, abuse of power- it takes all of these topics (amongst others) and introduces them to a younger audience
and i appreciate that
it's not just burp and fart and puberty jokes
it also has one of the most legitimately strong female characters i've seen in a while
she can shoot FIRE out of her hands
that is fucking rad
ultimately, it's a show that parents can watch with their kids, and still enjoy

(in case it wasn't clear, that comment was directed at phubans) It was clear, and so was mine. There are actually a lot of really intelligent kids shows coming out these days. It's good to see them sneaking in a little social consciousness into the cartoons. I remember back in the day watching He-Man, G.I. Joe, etc. and at the end they'd always have some moral of the story that had absolutely nothing to do with the events of the episode (which were clearly written by people stoned out of their minds).

what's more: legend of korra (and its predecessor) takes ethnic and gender based stereotypes and turn them on their head lin bei fong (female of asian descent) is chief of police and is seriously badass same with her mother, toph there are a ton of other examples (korra, for one), but those two are my personal favorites obviously its not the first series to do this, but i appreciate it anyway PS: to anyone watching the new series- does anyone realize the implications that arise when the head of the council is revealed to be a blood bender

Started reading/watching Another today. Good heavens it's a creepy story, but the way they draw the characters' faces is just amazing.

A warning in advance: The final two episodes of the anime will ruin the entire series for you. By 'reading', do you mean the manga or the novel? Either way, don't watch the final two episodes until you've finished whatever you're reading since the anime completely, totally and fully botches the ending. I'm serious about this. It's the worst ending I've seen since Mahoromatic. It's truly so terrible that it strongly lowered my opinion on the entire series. (I heard the novel is a whole lot better about it, haven't heard much about the manga.)

...I was planning on finishing the manga first, then the anime.
Now I think I'll get the novel down before I finish the anime too. If it's as bad as you say...
