Hello Everyone !

Fun fact before we start :
I suck at animating ...

That's why I wrote this post , I need some tutorials on how to animate in popular image editors (Photoshop , Illustrator , etc .)*If possible* from beginning ( theory , how body moves ) to practice ( How they do it on PS ) ...

Something basic , like a persons movement ( Jumping , Walking , Running , etc.)

Or even how you guys do it ...

Thanks for anwering

P.S : You can even recommend me some useful programs

I don't really use Photoshop for my pixel art(huehueuhe my pixel art pretty crappy too). I like using GIMP just because it's the first piece of software I learned to make pixel-art in. Graphics Gale is pretty cool.

Tutorials are helpful but to an extent... but, as the saying goes: Practice Makes Perfect.

Studying others works is pretty helpful too. Criticism is also important if you want to make some really good pixel art.

SolarLune(who is on tigForums as well) has a YouTube channel filled with some really good pixel art tutorials. Here's a link to the first post:

Here's another one by FarmerGnome(another tigForums user):

These are some pretty good videos to get you started out. If you're more of a reader then just searching for some pixel art tutorials in Google should gives you loads of articles going in depth about certain techniques.

Good Luck :D

Stay away from photo-shop for animating! Its literally the worst program for animation i can think of.

For hires animation i tend to use either toonboom or flash, and export to image sequences. Synfig might be a good option as well but i've never used it. http://www.synfig.org/cms/

I've got an effect animation tutorial coming out in a few days but i am charging a few bucks for it, so you might not be interested.

I'm thinking about doing a straight animation pdf on making sprites, with a focus on game animations and how they differ from tv animation.

But tv animation is a great place to start. I highly recommend richard williams book, the animators survival kit.
