Yeah I guess you're right. Daisy is basically just in the spinoff titles like Mario Kart. So is Wario, another character that originates from the Mario Land games and was designed by Hiroji Kiyotake, who was also the director (to use a Japanese game industry term) on these games.

Lots of new screens. Remember this pic? Look closer: Luigi is a statue. Does the tanooki suit let you turn yourself into a statue? And since we're talking about the tanooki suit, take a look at this: .jpg) Nintendo is really loving that tail recently.

They should like the tanuki tail, that's one of the best power-ups they ever came up with, along with the frog suit. I really hope Mario 3d land has some really difficult levels, or else it's probably going to be all too easy.

From all those screens, it really looks like a mix between Super Mario 64 (especially more linear levels like Rainbow Cruise and the Bowser levels) and the FLUDD-less levels in Sunshine. I'm personally loving it.

Seems like it's a mix of linear levels (like the FLUDDless ones), and of a bit more exploratory ones (Like SM64). I've always liked that mix, and so I think I'll probably be getting this.

10 times and there is a block so that you win the level! Yay!
... I think Nintendo has forgotten what game design is. Maybe it will be okay as long as there is challenge for those of us who want to have fun

With the implementation of the "super guide", NSMBWii became more difficult than NSMB.
Still, I think I read somewhere that Miyamoto said the game doesn't get difficult until near the end or something like that. Let's hope it's challenging enough.

After all, Mario games are meant to be as accessible as possible- if they can accommodate hardcore gamers as well as newbs, I'm fine with whatever features they need to implement.

I like how the trailer says it's a "fresh new adventure" while showing off nothing but old ideas. Seriously, they just ripped elements out of previous Mario games. The only new thing I saw was that piano level.
They're basically advertising that the old Mario games you know and love are back and literally nothing has changed. Seriously, Mario games have always had a grass world, a desert world, etc. How creative.
Edit: Also, I think Nintendo is trying to make the presentation for this game (and the trailer) as bland as possible.

Marketing silliness aside, I think it's pretty obvious that this Mario game aims to be more similar to previous classic Mario games than a new concept, with such a huge focus on the SMB3 tail. I'm perfectly okay with that.
