I have been lurking in this thread for 2 years now.
I really love how this has been progressing and I'm really excited for this game.  Kiss

I'm in love with your artstyle and definitely going to support the kickstarter.
Your progress has been one of my main sources of inspiration to keep working on my project.

<snip>

For me it seems too bright compared to the game itself and the moonman doesn't stand out at all, the first thing I notice is the snail.

Well, It's time for me to keep on lurking  Gentleman

braffolk -- thx, and glad to hear your enjoying my descent into madness.. :D

tcng -- nope, no plans for modding. it was in the original design but I abandoned it and decided to spend the time making content instead.

Update: Currently looks like a mid-Jan launch for the KS. I made the game run more smoothly with a few bug fixes and quick renderer optimisations, and I've been trying to get all the regions look consistent -- in terms of moon and sky brightness, colours, etc.

I've also disabled an effect whereby each region would be tinted slightly by the moon colour. The effect meant that Moonman would be a different green depending on which region he was in, which made the KS video a little confusing when jump cutting between regions. On top of that, it also washed out some colours, and so I've chucked it out.

Here are the current moon/sky combos.

I wanna have this game. Why? Because I expect something like Terraria, but with more style and less grinding. Your screenshots give so much room for

Woah. The water in the purple/pink world looks different. Is that just a mock up, or did you made a change?

This game looks simply brilliant, really inspired! I've had my eye on Moonman for the year or so I've been lurking these forums, and I finally managed to go through the entire thread this weekend and also tried some of the early builds. It's looked amazing every step of the way and continues to escalate in awesomeness. There's something about the atmosphere that is fresh and fascinating, yet at the same time somehow all fuzzy and nostalgic - I am reminded of weird games you might find on old Amiga coverdisks in the 90's that you'd end up getting lost in for weeks. I think everyone will agree your approach to the dev and the overall evolution of this project is a big inspiration. Bravo sir, and best of luck with the Kickstarter  Hand Money Right  Gentleman

Cheers everyone. Working on a single game for over 3 years takes its toll but the feedback I get from this forum always encourages me with renewed vigour Smiley

Krux -- Thanks, it started with a heavy Terraria influence, but is now heading more towards a short-form exploration game than a grind-to-get-best-gear kind of game. Games like Spelunky, Diablo and Binding of Isaac have an influence on where the game is going. But ultimately, it's just a one-man venture so will be much smaller than those games.

RuJiK -- The swamp water in the pink zone is different to the normal water in the forest zone. It'll eventually be more viscous and maybe poisonous to certain moonmen.

Rethunk -- Thanks heaps, and I'm glad it has inspired you! My original goal was to get experience building an entire game from scratch, engine, tools and all, while openly talking about the things I'm learning and building. I can't wait to ramp this devlog up again with actual gamedev! Smiley

Update: Some screens from the vid so far..
