Words words words
Me and the 38 other backers anxiously waiting Paul. Also redesigning the game a handful of times probably didn't help how long it took to make FEZ.

Congratulations to the winners. Some I've already played, some I hope to play soon.

it's getting close to completion, something like 85%. you can follow my LJ for a daily devlog if curious about the specifics i wish the fez team were more open about what its redesigns entailed, they seem a bit secretive. from what i've seen i like the basic idea of it, and dragonmaw did tell me that the level design is pretty good

Before the Fez drama really takes off, I would like to say that the rest of the winners were all good choices, IMO. Congrats to all of them.
As for Fez, that's a controversy I'd rather stay away from.

Let me just say that I'm so happy that Frozen Synapse won the audience award. I haven't played such a well-designed game in years.
It was also great to see Antichamber win technical excellence, which I wasn't expecting at all.

I'm placing a split bet on Fez and Dear Esther to win an award.
Yes! I win at predicting! Really should have nipped down to Ladbrokes and placed a bet. I'm sure I could have got at least a tenner.

i think trying to bet on fez would result in odds so low that you would lose money even if you were right
from the start everyone knew he'd win and his pathetic fake crying bout simply proves he knew it too
christ, what a putrescent little shithawk is friend fish

What confuses me about Fez re-entering is that it wasn't even nominated for the category it won in 2008. Does that mean the visuals got worse in the last 4 years?

Hmm. Reading this thread is really depressing. I didn't even realize all this drama was going on. Although I guess it's the natural course of events, I really dislike the thought that some of my favorite developers are forming private cliques and sharing design ideas exclusively amongst themselves. We had something similar happen on another gaming forum I used to frequent, and it really made a lot of people feel abandoned and left out. The tight and friendly community that we started out with, through no fault of any one member, eventually fractured and drifted apart. As a shy introvert, it's hard for me to get into the headspace of opening up and meeting new people in the community. It's even harder when I realize that so many indie game developers already know each other pretty closely, which means that they'll probably forget my face about 5 seconds after meeting me. But I guess this amounts to nothing more than a wish that I could have been there from the very start, when everyone was still a stranger and eager to reach out to one another. I guess all I can really do is keep making games.
