yeah but on further thought: have you ever traveled to a country outside of your own timezone (jet lag), in a culture very different than yours? i imagine it'd be pretty hard to sleep the first night here regardless of anything fish said He said specifically he couldn't sleep because he couldn't stop thinking about what happened after the screening. Yes I agree, he didn't take it all that bad, but it's a shame he couldn't just laugh about it. I mean, the point I was making is that we can't really blame Phil for however the guy took it. yes of course, i don't blame fish with how he took it, i just blame fish for saying answering the question carelessly in the first place, since, as i mentioned, the majority of anything is going to be bad, and it's better to focus on the positive than the negative when speaking about an entire country to someone from that country as an aside, japanese AAA games may well be worse on average than western AAA games this generation, but in the indie sphere i think the opposite is true: doujin games are a lot better on average than western indie games |

he pixels a few things and probably designs a few things too. but he can't even animate so he has to hire people and then kill them.

he does most of the level design i believe, using the editor for the game created by the programmer. that's often a pretty big job -- for instance i've probably spent more time in my current game's level editor than i have spent coding the game

Yes, I agree with this. It sounds like Fish basically just restated Sturgeon's law in an obnoxious way. When someone tried to point this out, he just dismissed it as irrelevant, but it's really not -- saying "japanese games suck" implies "more than non-japanese games". |
