how is the garbled mess that is mvc2 better
MvC2 doesn't have X-Factor. MvC1 is much better than both MvC2 and MvC3, despite the smaller character roster.

God damn did Alpha 3 have some weird fucking art.
what on earth are you talking about I think they mean the forced perspective artwork on the winquote screen. Which is actually quite true/extreme. But that's also why it's so iconic and terrific, too! And technically, I think 7 is their lucky number. They're just really good at disguising that shit. SF2 > CE > Turbo > Super > Super Turbo > "The Movie" > Hyper > HD Remix X-Men COTA > MSH > XvSF > MSHvSF > MvC > MvC 2 > MvC 2 Online > MvC 3 SFA > SFA2 > SFA2+ (Evil Ryu/Alt Chars) > SFA2G > SFA3 (Arc) > SFA3 (PSX) > SFA3 Upper/MAX MM1 > MM2 > MM3 > MM4 > MM5 > MM6 > MMXThey're just kinda good at hiding that shit.

i mean how could he possibly think that alpha 3 was their musical basis since 1998. i wish they had simple ranking in ssf4 instead of multiple versions of ryu's theme for characters who aren't ryu.

You're not the only one. Not to mention minor variations of the Title Screen theme for half the stages when there aren't character themes playing. Personally... I wish they WOULD use the SFA3 soundtrack as inspiration. Not remix it, because the composers are SO MUCH BETTER at writing original tracks than remixing ones they've already done (latter incarnations of themes, aside from maybe XvSF's, practically ALWAYS sound more boring/less intense than the originals; at least that's one department where MvC 1 and 3 didn't totally suck in. I'm rambling here.) But at least look at the freaking percussion work in SFA3, the instrumentation of it, and the pitch ranges they used. THAT is what a fucking game like this should sound like!! Dammit. Now I wanna play some online-console Alpha 3, and that's just not gonna happen anytime before 2015 now.

Aside from the Soul Edge/Calibur games SFA3 has some of the best fighting game music. It actually sounds like "fight" music (I loathe the jazzy/poppy stuff Capcom had going with a lot of its fighting games there for a while, as in Marvel vs. Capcom 2). Some of my favorite SFA3 tracks: Karin's ThemeRose's ThemeChun Li's ThemeJuli & Juni's ThemeSFA2 had some pretty slick ones too. They were less percussion-heavy that SFA3 but more melodic: Rose's ThemeAkuma's ThemeSakura's ThemeCharlie's ThemeThe SFA games were definitely some of Capcom's finest works.

I always thought Rolento's track on SFA3 was pretty cool. Same for M. Bison as boss.
I really liked how fast paced and intense it was. I can say the same for Vampire Savior, which is awesome on so many levels too.

cvs2 was a much better game than cvs1, even if roll cancelling and custom combos were really fucked up, but it was Less Cool than cvs1. the rooftop, london, festival and boss themes were fuckin god tier shit tho.

Not relevant to SF, but still somehow relevant: I prefer Tekken over Street Fighter as a series, but the music in Tekken is so, SO bad I can't believe it. Tekken has barely any memorable tune.

I always thought street fighter II turbo, MvC2, Megaman 2, and Megaman X2 were each the pinnacles of their respective runs. But my face is probably wrong and stupid

Megaman 3 had everything megaman 2 had plus more. Standard boss setup, then a twist with extra 8 hard bosses, rush, protoman, two big bad fortress setups, etc
also joe, cvs 2 had a much better announcer than cvs1. still, fucking morrigan.

Crimson Viper (SF4), Karin (SFA3), Lili (T6), and most importantly Juri (SSF4) are all in the roster for Street Fighter X Tekken! Capcom can have my pre-order and my soul!
