highly doubtful they would offer refunds. like I said, if you own the games or don't want them just give them to someone else. 3.99 is still a great deal for four games, even if you already own them. perhaps it was a mistake for them to offer preorders of unknown games from what I gather from their "public letter" is that a lot of people were hammering the page waiting for the bundle to release so they could pick it up cheap. the pre-order was a response to that. not the most elegant solution though. the real mistake was making public the exact date and time the bundles were going out.

ya but why don't they spend some money on better servers, that seems like the superior solution (and it's what humble indie game bundle did)
anyway i think of it like this. i can buy it now for 3$, or wait and see what i get and buy it for like 5$ if i like the games. is saving 2$ really worth buying games that you don't even know what they are? not to me, but maybe for others
i also feel that it's giving indies a bad name to sell games without telling you what those games are. for a lot of people, the *only* indie games they buy are from these bundles, so they get their impression of what all indies are like by how these bundles act. it's the same reason i don't like that picture of the bum called "indie game developer" if you pay less than 1$ for the humble bundle. indies have a public image, and it should remain a cool one, not one of hipsters, money-grubbers, scammers, or beggers, or people who make bad games and sell them for a dollar

I'm not sure, but I fell this move as a "pay me now and I'll fuck you later" thing.
I bought both previous bundles (yes, cheap!) but I always felt my money was well spent A.R.E.S in the first and Nightsky in the second. I won't drop a dime before the curtain is lifted and the games are revealed.
I saw that message pop up to pre-order and my first though upon reading it was "fornicate yourself you mother fornicators!".
So yeah.

oh, come on. it's 3.99 for FOUR games. the only possible way it could be a rip-off is if the games in the bundle were originally free. and that, of course, is not going to happen.

fair enough. But will I want to play those games? Paying for what I see allows me to pay for a game, even if I won't touch the rest. But there might be the case where no games spark my interest. Then what? Play them because I bought them on a whim? Nah... Better wait.

Waiting to buy the games until after you see what they are (So you know they are games you want) is a good plan.
Pre-ordering the games (because the odds of them not being worth the price of the preorder is next to nil) is also a good plan.
Neither of those plans are wrong.

you have friends don't you? if it turns out you don't like the games, forward them to someone that might. 3.99 for a gift of four games is a hell of a deal as well. there's nothing wrong with not wanting to buy it before it's out, no matter the price, but going around acting like it's a scam is quite stupid. the pre-order was meant as a convenience for people who want to buy it early. nothing more, nothing less.

So like, everyone that pre-ordered got Disasterpeace's Album "Rise of the Obsidian Interstellar"
Which on one hand is awesome (I already bought it though) and on the other hand is like, "Why didn't you just frickin tell the people?"

(I preordered, though it was because of the album. Thanks for the info, peanutbuttershoes) What's that "friends" thing you talk about? And yes, I still think this is a perfect way to rip off people and a very dubious method of conducting business (like some cases of alpha-funding). No, I don't like it one bit and I'm vocal about it. It's many degrees of shady and I hope they turn towards another method, or at least show one or two games in the bundle, offer a game up front for the early adopters or something more tangible than a chiptune album (games are the core of the bundle, after all. Well, let's wait a few more hours...

Dear boon ass developer, our bundle sold great over 40,000 copies in 3 days. You royaltly of .25 gives you a total of 10,000$ before fees.
Unfortunatley after our fee, upload expenses, paypal, marketing expenses, charity fees, investor paybacks, and hosting costs you owe us $126.15.
Please pay as soon as possible as we would love to release another bundle but we owe money to the web host and they have capped our bandwidth.
Beast Regards,
Indy F U bundle
